Malcolm S. Gerald and Associates Mr. Mills Harassing ME because my friend used my phone to call them Chicago, Illinois

On January 13th, 2011, while dining with a friend, she received a call from her daughter on my cell phone. Her daughter gave her a phone number of someone who wanted my friend to call them.

I allowed her to use my cell phone to place the call.

On the morning of the 14th, 2011, just before 8:30 am, the phone rang and I answered it. A man asked for Tammy. I asked him how he had gotten my number? He said that Tammy had called from the number the day previous. I said that this was my cell phone, and I was not Tammy. He asked me how she had gotten my phone? I said I had allowed her to make a call on it. He asked me why did I let her use my phone?

I said she was my friend, but this was not her phone, and that it was not a message phone for her. He again asked why I let her use it?

I told him to take my cell number of anything associated with Tammy.

On the night of January 18th, at 7:09 pm, the cell phone rang, and a voice belligerently demanded Tammy! I asked him how he got my number? He said "we're not going to play games with you Tammy". He identified himself and the company. But he would not give me his first name, but did give me the address.

I again asked how he had gotten number and he told me the date Tammy had called and the time, and that they had called the number the 14th, but got no answer. I told him I had told someone at that time this was not her phone.

He said that "you made arrangements to pay this debt by the 31st, and what are you going to do about it?"

I told him this wasn't Tammy, nor her phone, but he would not listen nor quit yelling, so finally I got loud too, and told him I knew what the laws were for debt collectors, and he had just broken all of them. And that I would be filing complaints, and telling Tammy what he had done. He then wanted to know if I wanted to speak to his boss. He told me that calls were being recorded, and I could not threaten him. I told him it was a promise.

Perry Krilis got on line then and was testy also. I told him I did not appreciate what Mills had done, that I was not Tammy, nor was this her phone, and that I would be filing complaints on them. He told me that the calls were being recorded, and I told him to be damn sure not to lose them.

In researching other complaints against this company, this seems to be a strong arm debt collection agency that preys on people by attacking them and badgering them.

I have filed with BBB and FTC, and ACA, and am waiting to file report with Attorney General's office in Illinois.

This company is out of control

MANAGER JEFF SIMONSEN BELITTLES EMPLOYEE IN FRONT OF STAFF!! I recently worked for Malcolm s. Gerald and if you think debtors are treated bad, get this one: I am an experienced collector. I was trained for 2 days, then put on the floor. Mike Lorenzen, my manager did nothing but rudely criticize my work. The final straw was that I told a lady she had plenty of time to get copies of a bill from the client.(not unfair, right?). He said that was demeaning. Jeff came by to see what was up. I said the debtor wanted copie/billing. He said just tell her she had plenty of time for that. When I expressed that they need to get their facts straight instead of demeaning me when I've only been there 2 days, he said loudly so all my co-workers could hear (in so many words, not verbatum): you can't talk that way to us on the floor, if you don't like the way we do things, you can take a walk!! I went in to talk with Perry Krillis, the director, to express my disdain of this untolerable embarrassing matter, and he said what he thought I wanted to hear to prevent me from leaving. It's alsdo the only company I've ever worked at full time that doesn't offer an am and pm break. HE said they were previously abused and that he has an office full of kids working for him. I said I see no kids, he said many are 18-19 years old. Why should I have to be treated like a child because threy can't hire a mature staff? I needless to say left very upset, because I fnally got a job that I thought would be permanent only to be again unemployed. The previous post sounds legit, although they go overboard with kindness for the debtor and following the FDCPA. They don't, however send initial letters to most debtors to verify the account is in their office. But I think it's somewhat crap. I've read many complaints, and you have to consider that not paying a bill due to irresponsible financing isn't the creditor's fault. When accounts are charged off, it hurts the economy. Granted credit card companies pray on these natural human deficiencies, but me? I have no credit! I either save up, use layaway or do without. We never know what life has in store, and to put oneself in 100's or 1000's of dollars in debt is just plain dumb!! Yes this company sucks. Summary: 1. they treated me, who isn't in debt, worse than the people who basically stole money by not making any effort at all to repay the money(many accounts have been with several agencies before being placed here), thus contributing to the bad economy we're in. 2. Have an immature untrustworthy staff(the person who allegedly commited the crime against previous post was probably an inexperienced young collector who wasn't being monitored, as if they should have to be if they're professional like me, 45 years old by the way). #. THE CLINCHER: They allow the sale of bootleg CDs and loose cigarettes to be sold on the premesis!! Give me a break, irt's an office not the street or ghetto!!
