We had a house fire and hired Marinilli Associates to "assist in the preparation, presentation and adjustment of all applicable claims" with our homeowners insurance company as it was stated in their contract. What we got, however, was not assistance, but rather removal from the entire claims process and the torment of being held hostage by Marinilli Associates. Here is the timeline of events: - Marinilli Associates was responsible for creating an inventory of damages caused by the house fire. - We requested to see this report before it was sent to our homeowners insurance company so we could review it for accuracy. Marinilli Associates agreed to do this. - We made numerous requests to see the report and Marinilli Associates kept telling us it wasn't done and that they were not going to read our emails. - Our insurer notified us that payment of our claim was being processed. - We contacted our insurer, and they confirmed the payment was calculated with input from Marinili Associates' report - We sent our insurer and Marinilli Associates written notice that we were terminating our contract with Marinilli Associates for breach of contract. - Our insurer mailed our claim payment checks to Marinilli Associates - Marinilli Associates held onto the claim payment checks for over a month without telling us they had received them - Following Better Business Bureau intervention, Marinilli Associates mailed us the claim payment checks but did not endorse one of them. - Marinilli Associates informed the BBB that they will not endorse this check until we call or meet them and come to an "amicable resolution," further delaying us from putting our life back together. It has been more than three months since the file and our insurer considers the claim closed, and we haven't even begun reconstruction. We cannot imagine a lower level of customer service. |
