Posted classified add for kitten, received email from Maritza with details on shipping animal to the state where they live with long story line of health and family matters.
I informed this person that they must be able to find pets locally in their area and provided them with no further information. Googled their email address to find many other reports about this family asking the same of other pet owners.

We are so glad to read back from you. just a little information about my family, my name is Maritza Rivera Bruce and my husband's name is Mark Bruce, we have been married for 16 years, and we both live in Lincoln Nebraska and we have lived here all our lives, we are blessed with 2 kids the youngest is "Lisa" she's 9 years old she cherish pet a lot and she spent most of her time with our neighbor's pet, myself and my husband have promised her a loving and adorable pet on her 10th year birthday that is coming up this weekend, therefore we have been looking for a lovely pet to adopt for her as a special gift, we were so glad to came across your advert yesterday and we decided to write you and make an inquiry about the pet, it's our greatest pleasure that you responded back to us so quickly, so i want you to consider my family for the adoption. my husband said he's capable of paying any price you name and would also pay some kind of donation and compensation to you for the up bringing of the pet. and we really would love to have your pet to be part of my loving family because we don't have any pet right now. also to let you know our house is wood fence it's about 10.95ft high, we have a very large yard where pet can play and roam around comfortably if necessary. I can assure you a safety and caring home for your pet and i can as well assure you that i will be sending you the pictures of the pet to you after he/she gets down to our family so that you will know how much attention we're giving to the pet, so after paying the adoption fee. concerning how to get the pet down to us, my husband will handle that,
As regard the shipping of the pet, my hubby will definitely take care of that because he knows of a reliable and competent pet shipping company that he had used before, they will come to your door step for the pick up of the pet after you might have receive the payment, so you don't have to bother about the shipping and the cost we'll be responsible for that, the shipping company will handle it with care, my husband will be sending you a cashier's check for your adoption fee including the shipping payment and the donation to the local shelter in your area , below are the payment info we need from you to proceed with the payment asap.. your pet will be a special guest of honor on my daughter's birthday. and the shipping company will contact you tomorrow as well. payment information such as:
1- Your full name to be written on the cashier check,
2- Mailing address,
3- Your area zip code
4- Your Phone numbers for smooth communication |

Also, the following information was added because I requested a telephone conversation.

| Wow! This is crazy. I almost fell for alot of this. I was so desperate to find my dog a good loving home and she sold me. I was a little leary at first but I googled the info she gave me and everything seemed legit. The only difference in the story is that her name was Susan Bruce and the husband was John Bruce and th daughter was turning 11 and her name was Maritza. The check was to be delivered today I called fedex and they had collected over 40 checks sent out by these people for a fraud investigation and when I was doing some research just now I actually found the John Bruce on craigslist listed for a scam that happened 2 days ago. |

We received the same email but she was pretending to be Susan Cannon... shame on them...idiots. They are switching up names with mom, dad, and daughter.

I received an e mail from her yesterday after I posted a rescue puppy.
Petfinder Classified Ads: you have received an email from: [email protected].
Good day,
I saw the AD of your adoptable pet on the pet site, and my family are so much interested in the adoption, i want to make an inquiry if still available and what is the adoption fee?, please let me know if the pet's up to date on shot, i would be so glad to read back from you as soon as possible. thanks for your time.

I had the same thing happen to me..though when I asked to speak on the phone, she told me she was deaf but did not provide a number to text her at.
It went as far as them mailing me 2 seperate checks, and when they did not go through they wanted me to use my own money to pay for the shipping of my cat..that's when I realized it was a scam.
This is terrible what these people are doing and I wish there was a way they could be stopped! None of the addresses they gave me were Nebraska addresses. Most were California.
My bank took all of the documents and filed a report but I doubt they can do anything about it..these people have so many different addresses that they are pretty much untraceable.

I also got an email from "[email protected]" - another scam. Also avoid any email from "[email protected]" who wrote me to say: "I came across your advert on petfinder about your adorable pet for adoption and I'm willing to adopt your pet for my 10 years old Daughter because she love pet so much and I'm a pet lover as well.i will like to know if the pet is still available for sale and it picture if available for more satisfaction..i wait your quick response."
Notice in each of these emails they simply refer to your ad for a "pet" which shows they don't know whether you've put a dog, cat, or some other animal up for adoption. |

| OMG! thank god, I found this. I am looking for a home for my Golden Retriever on petfinders and i got 2 emails from [email protected] and [email protected] I want to find these people and beat them. |
