| Mel Yoders Home Improvement Fires Girl for basically not being part of the family Huron, Ohio |

| Ok so my girlfriend gets hire at Mel Yoders Home Improvement as a Administrative Assistant. First off she is more than qualified for the position, she has her Associates Degree in Accounting and 2 years experience to top that. When she firsts starts here they automatically started to treat her different than the other employees mainly because she was not a member of the yoders family. This is a family owned business. If she was a few minutes late they would hassle her and give her warnings about it. Now being as this is a small family owned business they don't give health insurance to their employees. One night she has to get hospitalized for an issue i cannot say right now but the hospital kept her there almost a week and when she returns they make her sign a written warning and a contract saying that she read the handbook. Keep in mind that she had a doctors note for the time in the hospital. Also they put her on probation that day as well. Now any other employee that was a member of the family wouldn't even get questioned about this situation but for some reason they just don't like her. So about a month later she is legitimately sick for 2 days and in the handbook it states that if an employee is sick for more than 2 days then they need a doctors note to be excused. She goes back to work monday and go figure she gets pulled in the office to be fired. Now on the first day she started to get sick she came into work and requested to be sent home after a few hours. This place is immoral and corrupt and i personally wouldn't want to do business with a place that treats their employees this way. My girlfriend did nothing wrong but yet just because her last name was not yoder she got held to a double standard. |

| I am quite familiar with the situation above and you couldn't be more wrong and further from the truth. I am NOT a Yoder to inform you if your wondering. I am also not a boyfriend that bashes a company because his girlfriend could not responsibly perform day to day operations and show up on time consistently. Minutes late and hours late is a big difference. When in the work force it is not about 'liking' someone. If someone performs well and is an asset to the company they will in most cases be able to keep their job with no problem. I personally know some of the employees and have heard nothing but good about the company and its treatment of the workers and employees. The company strives to satisfy customers and if firing under performing workers to make business run smoother and easier is what needs to be done then thats what they will do. Mel Yoder's Home Improvement has been in business over 40 years, immorality and corruption does not keep a business running for over 40 years. You believe your girlfriend did nothing wrong, being late and not showing up without calling isn't acceptable and won't be in any workplace, especially if your commute to work is less than 10 minutes! Sickness is considered, with that being said being 'sick' over 8-9 times a month and sometimes not showing up at all without any notice starts to get a little far fetched. You should be thankful Mel Yoder's Home Improvement gave your girlfriend another chance after she turned in her two week notice and then at the last minute changed her mind. I hope work ethic and responsibility is in your future, if not then you won't make it in the work force. Again, I am no way related to ANY Yoder. I hear nothing but great reviews on the work they perform and the treatment the employees receive. |

I'm not familiar with this particular situation, but my family has dealt with the Yoders for over 40 years, and they've been great for service and standing by their work. They've been extremely tolerant employers, putting up with excuses and hard luck stories few others would ever tolerate. If I had a roof to do, they'd be the first people I'd call.
