Theft-Failure to Refund Money after Cancelled Pageant

Carletta Hurt is both a liar and a thief. If she is listed as the director of any pageant you hope to be involved in, please be aware that she might promise you the world but you will never see most of it, and the little that you might get will require a fight and threat of legal action. I was awarded acity title in November 2010 for the 2011 rein and it took nearly 1 year to receive shcolarship money that should have been awarded immediately. I only received it after I threatened legal action.

As a city titleholder I was committed to competing in the following year's statewide title pageant. I submitted a $300 donation for the Royal Reader's Program(also a scam, see below) which was a requirement to compete in the November 2011 pageant. Due to low numbers of participants because everyone found out that Carletta's Miss/MS Black Georgia USA is an illegal pageant that is not sanctioned by Miss Black USA and participants do not move on to compete in Nationals, Carletta cancelled the pageant in December 2011. I have been requesting a refund of my money ever since. It is now June 2012. Her phone numbers all mysteriously go to voicemail when I call, she doesn't respond to email messages at any of 3 accounts, and she doesn't repond to facebook either. Don't waste your money or your time.

In regard to the Royal Readers Foundation, please note that the girls that I competed with and I were all told that our donations would go toward providing classroom sets of books for underprivileged schools. We were required to each provide a donation of $500 to Royal Readers( $300 for me because I signed on months after the other girls) in order to compete in the November 2010 pageant. After the pageant, each titleholder(there were 3 titleholders) received 1 box with a max of 25 random books that we were told to distribute for Royal Readers. These were in no way classroom sets, would not have been enough for even 1 school, and were not appropriate for most age groups. The schools receiving the books were also supposed to receive plaques for their libraries highlighting our sponsors' donations....these were never received either.
