MOTORCAR PORTFOLIO-- LIARS & DECIEVERS.
OCTOBER 14,2011. In March of 2011. I started looking for a collectible car. I searched on line. I came across MOTORCAR PORTFOLIO. I saw a 1978 Thunderbird. The car caught my eye! (SEE PHOTOS). I called them, to inquire about it. I spoke with TOM DAVIS (salesman). I told him that the car had caught my eye, and asked him about it. I asked if it was as beautiful in person, as in the photos. Tom said yes. Now, I live in N. Carolina, the car was in Canton, Ohio. I was doing this long distance. Tom told me that it was owned by an older gentleman, who traded it for a smaller car. Tom told me that the car had a little over 60K original miles on it, and that the interior was immaculate. I asked Tom, 2 SPECIFIC questions about the car. 1. does all the OPTIONS WORK, Tom-”YES”. 2. does the car have any RUST on it, Tom “NO”, its in beautiful shape and has been undercoated”. I thought great!. My concerns were that I didn't want to deal with non-operating options, and definitely NO RUST!. He assured me it was in great shape. So I went to my bank and financed it. The car was-$5295.00 & $1,000.00 to ship it (enclosed container). It took about 3-4 weeks for it to be delivered. The car arrived in may. When I went to pick it up. The delivery driver was a great guy, no issues. During the pick up , I asked him,if he had been paid the $1,000. He responded “ what $1,000”. I said the $1,000. they charged me for you to deliver it. The look on his face, said it all. He said he was happy, with what he got. So, I guess it really didn't cost a $1000. to deliver it, and somebody pocketed a part of the money!. I let it go. I got into the ,started it up and it ran beautifully. I was very happy, Until I got home. I went to push the power locks, only noise, they DIDN'T work!. I was pissed!. I just thought, they got me!. I let it go, and figured I have it fixed. The car ran beautifully, I was in love with it. It rode, and handled like a dream. Then in the beginning of October , 2011, it started running rough, then wouldn't idle at all. I knew it was carburetor issues. I had a 1979 Thunderbird, Heritage, 2 years ago and it did the same thing. Now, to this point,I had never lifted the hood, ran great, didn't need to. I decided I would to a major tune-up on her. I bought oil, filter, air filter, plugs, rotor and cap. I lifted the hood and started to look around, I freaked!. Both inner wheel wells were, RUSTED THROUGH!( approx 12” long by 2”wide). I was fuming!!!!. I had been deceived, lied to and played!!!. I thought about it for a week, then decided, I couldn't let this go. I called MOTOR PORTFOLIO on Oct 10,2011, I spoke to the receptionist, and explained to her what happened. I also asked her the owners name “ROBERT LISKEY”. I asked her to have him call me back. He called back the next day. I wasn't home, so he left a message, saying that it had been 6 months, and there was nothing he could do. I called him back that day, Oct 11,2011. I spoke with him on the phone and he repeated the same thing as on the message. I told him, you have my money, What do you care. I also told him that TOM had told me there was no rust on the car. I told him that TOM had lied to me, and that this need to be taken care of. Once again he repeated himself, I told him to choke on the money, because they were fully aware of the rust holes( YOU CANT MISS THEM!). The conversation became intense---Then click. I didn't know if he hung up on me, or if the call was dropped. I live in the country, very rural here. I called back within 20 min, Tom answered, I asked for Robert. “ He left for the day” is what I was told. I didn't believe him. I waited about an hour called back. The receptionist answered, I asked for ROBERT, and she said “he is with customers”. Now I am getting stoned-walled!. I asked her to have him call me back, since I didn't know if we were disconnected or he hung up on me. To this day he has not returned my call, he must have something to hide! Heres the thing: Every car dealer will lift the hood and look at the engine compartment, when purchasing or taking in a trade. They are looking for leaks, and general overall condition of the engine! You would have to be blind to miss the rust holes!!! I trusted these people, and took then at there word. I should have had it taken to the ford dealer ship, and let them go through it. Thinking that a collector and antique dealer would be above board. I was wrong Had they been honest, and up front about the rust holes, I would have given it some consideration about buying the car, or wold have negotiated the price down. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! ROBERT LISKEY, owner
TOM DAVIS. salesman Be aware of this company and these guys.
They will lie, deceive and play you.
They got me and my $6,310.00.- No better than the sleazy, grease ball, fly by night car lots!!!
