My name is Jamie I am 58 years old and I am on Complete perm. Disability, I do receive a small disability check from Social Security Disability. I currently live in Spring Hill, Fl., I am very ill with Liver and Kidney Disease, and I don't feel I was getting the Medical Care I needed. My Daughter checked into a hospital in Co. which is highly rated for multiple organ transplants. She contacted the hospital and I have been flying to Colo. about every other month so they can monitor my care. My daughter asked me to move here and I could live with her. I told her I would contact a mover to have my things shipped to Colo. I had a little money saved, and I didn't have a lot of things, No furniture. I contacted a company called Budget Van lines Licensed by the US DOT-MC# 512534,and requested an estimate she said in order to have a binding estimate she would need her estimator to look at the things I was going to move. They sent me a binding estimate with my weight of 1,547#, and a price of $1,086.00, which could be paid in 3 installments. In order to reserve space on the moving truck I needed to pay $396.50, which I paid, 2nd. Install. of $407.50, to be paid when the driver pick-up my shipment, my daughter that lived in Fl released my shipment, pd the driver with credit card. She asked him for inventories and what does she need to sign. He told her she didn’t have to sign anything, and that Budget Van Lines would email copies of the inventories to me. My daughter said there were 144 items. The final payment of $407.50 would be paid to the driver upon delivery. They picked up my items on March 1, 2011, on march 4, I got a call from Natatli at a company called The Movers Group, 300 Oakwood Lane Suite #8, Hollywood, Fl. 33020, their USDOT#1816661, MC- # MC-659597, their telephone #(866) 573-9031. She informed me that Budget Van Lines was a Move Broker and they gave my shipment to them. She told me my things were on the way and to expect them to arrive around March 11, 2011, and that the driver would call me a day or two before delivery. By this time I am on my way to Colo. I arrive and I get a call on March 10 I get a call from Natali from The Movers group again, she said that the price was increased on my shipment because it now weighed 4,080#, and the new price was $2,952.82 , and I needed to pay them another $1,000.00, that day, and the driver would collect the balance of $1,195.82 before he would unload my things. I told her I didn't have that kind of money and she put me on hold and a man came on the line by the name of Jimmy he said he was the Manager/Dispatcher. I said I had a binding estimate, an estimator came and looked at my things, he said "Estimating was not an Exact Science and sometimes they get it wrong, he then informed me that my things were still in the warehouse, and if I wanted to get my things I needed to pay him The money by March 14, 2011, I don't have that kind of money. I am so upset over the whole matter I have no clothes, my daughter had went around a collected all of my medical records, x-rays, etc. and they were put in a moving box. Nor to mention this is all I have left in the world. My dead husband's ashes are in a sealed urn, as he wanted to come to Colorado and spread in the mountains. Please advise me of what I can do, I have filed with the DOT, Attorney General for Florida and Colorado, and now you!! Please advise. I also have all of the documentation except no one will give me a copy of the Order for Service or the Inventories. There is really nothing of value in my shipment that would be of use to them, just things I will never be able to replace. Thank-You Very Much.
