My Dream Escape Magical Dream Escapes SCAM ALERT: One Company under THREE names. Halland, Florida
11th of May, 2011 by User725302
I attended a local festival, whereby I entered a drawing for
a "dream vacation". On 5.11.2011 I received a call around 7pm where a
Gene Addis told me that I had been chosen from the sweepstake. He told me that I
would receive a free trip to Orlando, Coco Beach, and Key West, Florida. He
told me that I was the one person who was chosen. Later, however, he told me
that they chose 50 people for this promotion. He talked for about an hour.
Toward the wrap-up of his sales speech, he told me that over 40,000 people have
taken this promotion in the last five years. Lastly, he told me that I would
only have to pay $349 per person for this promotion- a total of 21 days of
vacation. After I declined payment, he told me that he could do the promotion
for $398 per person but that I would need to give them my credit card. He then
handed me over to "Kim", his director. Because all of the facts were contradictory I decided to
look into reviews of the company. I found that the their BBB rating is a D,
with 34 complaints taken against them as of 5.12.2011. Then I discovered that they have
multiple websites under various names and addresses. Here are some that I
found: 1. My Dream Escape www.mydreamescape.net 2. My Sunny Travel www.mysunnytravel.com AND
www.mysunnytravels.biz 3. Magical Dream Escapes www.magicaldreamescapes.com Today, 5.12.2011 I received a call from Gene Addis again. He
put me on the line with his "director" who told me, upon my
questioning, if this deal was available for others too. She answered "Yes,
that's exactly what we want. We want people to get the same deal for the same
price." This completely contradicted the fact that Gene acted as if I was one of a
handful of people who were chosen. This is false advertising and is fraudulent
activity. On 5.12.2011 from 2:04PM-2:17 EST I called Kim and talked to
her about my negative findings about the company. She told me that many companies in Florida
go by the same name. I told her that I had called the local Chamber of
Commerce, Hallandale Beach Chamber, whereby the chamber did not have any information
in their database regarding this company. Kim told me first that the company is
My Dream Escape, not any of those other names (listed above). Then I told her that the
mysunnytravels.com website matches that of the current website mydreamescape.net.
Only then did she admit that the company goes by those three names. I also
asked to have a copy of my original entry form, whereby her reply was a laugh.
As I revealed more and more to her of my research of the company, she became
irate and said that I obviously was not going to let her find a resolution and
that she would pass this on. As I waited to hear from her manager or boss, the
phone line went dead, meaning she had hung up on me. Luckily I did not go through with giving my credit card details, as there were many red flags raised throughout the time I spent over the phone with these company representatives. After reading about other's experiences with this company, I see that I was spared from a major scam. Please heed my advice and do not deal with this company. Additionally, it is my opinion that this company will soon change its name again, going under a new alias. I hope you too will not fall for this scam.

On 5/18/11 I was contacted by this company because I too had filled out a form. Don't recall that. Only form I filled out was for a company that does room additions. Must have sold my info. I too had won the package along with 50 others and the vacation they promised seemed too good to be true. Orlando, Fla, the Bahamas, Key West, Fla, Mexico, on and on, also a cruise including airline tickets, I can't remember what else; they talked so fast. I had up to 18 months to take all the vacations with 3 other persons. The first guy transfered me to his manager Mike Checkett when I said I didn't have the money who cut the deal to $498.00. and would divide it into 4 payments.I asked him to send me info in the mail and he refused. Gave me some cock and bull about not being able to give the deal if it went in the mail. I said I wanted to check them out and he gave me some bull about having to go through security checks by visa. He gave me his website which brought me here thank God. Now I won't make the mistake of giving out my info. Sure wish he was legit. What a deal it would be! But as the old saying goes" If it sounds too good to be true- it probably is."

I just had the same call and it was a bit of a combination of both of your stories. I attended a local festival as well recently and I remember the signing up at the entry. I will let the festival people know about this...
thank you for reporting this as this post helped me as well!!!

I was at a local festival in NC and entered a drawing. They called me today. After initially saying that I would pay two monthly payments of $200 for the free cruise and whatnot I declined the offer after talking to the rep (Nick Stroncone) for a while. They said they would send an e-mail to an account of mine, and I wanted the information I also spoke with the manager (Jason Cude) as well. After a few hours they called back and offered the $400 package for $200. This made me look them up online and I ran accros this post. Thought I would share.

I too have been called by this company after attending a festival last weekend. I've done vacations like these in the past. They are not all that bad if you actually take the offer. The biggest disapointment for me was the extra fee's per night on the cruise. If you plan on taking multiple vacations its worth the $$$. If you only plan on one vaction a year its a waste of time and money. About time you pay for flights and fees for each of these trips you could have gone on one or two vacations of your choice for the same amount of $$$$. I'm going to pass on the offer since we do not want to be tied down to the destinations on the current offer.

I went to a concert recently. Rock, Ribs & Ridges here in NJ. Marshall Tucker & The Outlaws were playing. The festival people had us all fill out a raffle ticket to win a free car. No car, but a phone call about this vacation stuff. Spoke to a Luke nichols, then his manager for quite some time. I was supposedly 1 out of 50 lucky people to win this $698.00 package. SCAM!!!

I've always considered myself to be a smart person - relatively good with money, good job, good "life decisions". I however fell for ths hook, line and sinker. They first offered the trips for $700. A manager got on when I said no and brought it down to $400 + an extra cruise, plus a code for buy one get one flights in the US. The flights are what did it. I too signed up for something free at a festival in Knoxville, TN at Boomsday. They charged me $199, and I was waiting on my second payment to go through and info to come with my B1G1 flight info when I decided to check the website out. I called the numbers I had and only got answering machines in whcih no one would call back. I can't believe I was that stupid!!! I hope no one else is...althought they make their money somehow.

8/30/2011 was contacted by this scam company but unfortunately got wrapped up in traveling urges and got caught up in this misrepresentation. I just recently found out how bad this company is when trying to make reservations for one of the vouches for my deserving spring break vacation for college. After doing some research found the company has two other websites they going by which are; www.MagicalDreamEscapesInc.com and http://www.8006405250.com/ . The www.MagicalDreamEscapes.com is the web site that is on the front of the voucher package that was received in the mail, in which it is inoperable. The http://www.8006405250.com/ is a website given by the Reservations Desk. The company has three more contact numbers which include: 1.253.595.5629, 800.640.5250 and fax: 253.595.5629. The company misrepresented the information and the travel package deals and a shopping spree of $1, 000. The shopping spree was only cheap out dated merchandise you could probably find in goodwill and you had to pay like separate charges for each product to be shipped, so in the end you would pay $300.00 for junk you didn’t even need or near want. I was underneath the consumption that I could use them anytime and there weren’t any regulations other than not traveling alone and anyone could join me as long as they weren’t over 60 years of age. Recently found out that the requirements of any trip sold to me was the age 30 or married with the annual salary of at least 25, 000-30, 000 depending on the trip. I am 28 years old, currently unemployed student and the status of being single. I am not rushing into marriage. I don’t feel like consumers should just get married to just go on vacation that is ridiculous. I contacted the company to see if there was a resolution to the issue, the representative advised me that I could “trick the system” by to changing my address to my boyfriend’s even if I am not moving so we could enjoy the vacation packages. I do believe this violates some state rights and probably many other laws. I do not want to “trick” any system. I feel like this company violates my rights by discriminating demographics and stealing my hard earned money. Anyone who works for this company should feel ashamed of themselves for being so unethical and misleading many Americans out of their dreams. I contacted my credit card company to find out that it was past dispute time limit and there is nothing they could do. In hopes of maybe getting refunded or giving American consumers justice. Thank you for the opportunity of using my first amendment and protect Americans rights.

My father passed away in September of 2010. They contacted my 80 year old widowed mother and she that she purchased this scam. She had never been in charge of her finances before. About a month later I found out she did this and I contacted them to tell them the situation and that she was not in her right state of mind when she purchased this and asked for a refund. They simply refused. I spoke with the top person there and he also refused. I think this is very bad business and they are simply charging you to give you a iist of places you can see timeshares.
