My problem with Hughes Net began from the beginning. During my inital call to Hughesnet where I originally spoke to a sales rep about their product,I specifically asked for unlimited use, high speed, wi-fi internet connection. The sales rep told me that thats what they had and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. After the equitpment was installed,(including a modem I had to pay $450 for)I started to experience problems with the computer running really slow.I thought I had already picked up a virus or something and had my brand new computer checked out.It was fine. At this point after bieng online for a short time my computer would begin running really slowly. So I called Hughes Net.This is where I was informed that with the plan I had (which by the way costs me $70 a month)I was only allowed a 200 megabyte download allowance!!!! this was the first time I had heard this. IF I HAD KNOWN THIS,there is NO WAY I would have used their service.when I protested,They basicly told me oh well i'm under contract. At this point I was HOT! But without going through alot lot of problems there was nothing I could do right? So for a year I put up with a crappy $70 connection that due to my "download allowance" I can't even go on youtube or regularly play a facebook game cause it eats up the usage so quick.I was so unhappy with the product that I called customer service to complain. Which is something I never do.But it this case I had to make an exception.During this call I was informed that Hughes Net had begun selling "restore tokens" that will refill your download meter for $5.And you could use 1 token a month for free. WOW.Sounds like crap but at least at least 1 day a month I can now use my computer more than just a place to check my email. So I said thank you to the sales rep and happened to mention that it had been almost a year since I had purchased their product and when my contract ran out I would not be using HughesNet anymore.THIS is when I was informed that my contract was for 2 years not 1.It had not been mentioned at ANY TIME that I was going to be forced to sign a 2 year contract. But once again what can I do?I get mad and cancel and my credit is screwed. So for this second year I have counted the days till my contract with HughesNet will expire.Recently I had used my computer quite alot one particullar day and of course I was keeping an eagle eye on my download allowance meter. When I got to where I was getting low I stopped doing my research and left with the meter saying in 2 hours my download allowance was going to refill itself. So I left to go eat dinner and came back a few hours later.Apon returning my computer's download allowance was completely empty and it would be over 22 hours before it would return to its normal speed. I called Hughesnet and asked why when the meter said it was going to refill in two hours and I left and came back 4 hours later and it did not refill and would be almost 24 hours before I could use my computer again.Honesty the person I spoke with didn't give an answer and only mentioned using a restore token and that I was allowed 1 compementary token a month.AND that download speed was unlimited between the hours of 2am and 7am and that I could take advantage of that.2AM-7AM most normal people are either asleep or at work! I was unsatisfied with the calls result, so I went on HughesNet's website and emailed a complaint. This resulted in a call from HughesNet asking about my problem. This actually was the best contact I had with HughesNet and the person seemed really concerned that I seriously do hate HughesNet and think their service is total garbage. To try to smooth things over the HughesNet rep told me that she was giving me 3 complementary restore tokens. It would take about 15 to 20 minutes and they would show up on my account. Well this was Feb.3,2011 and today its Feb.9,2011 and I have not recieved those restore tokens. In fact, yesterday the 8th of feb.,I called and I was told that they were sorry and it would take about 15-20 minutes to get them to show up on my account. An hour later still no tokens.I called back.I was told sorry, they will take care of it and it would be about 15-20 min and they should show up on my account.I went out to lunch.4 hours later I go check my account. No Restore Tokens.I call back I was told sorry again ACTUALLY LAUGHING about the problem and they would fix the problem and to give it about 30 min and the tokens should show up on my account and if not to call back. An hour later still no tokens.I call back person #4 tells me that Hughes Net does not give away restore tokens and that I have to buy them. After debating with this fellow for about 20 minutes and him getting alittle frustrated with me,he said that he would give me my 3 restore tokens.LET ME REMIND you that these tokens are $5 a piece and they actually have a deal where you can buy 3 for $12.50 so its not like its twisting the companys arm.I do pay $70 a month and it cost me almost as much as my computer itself over $500 to get the equiptment and setup for the inital installation, for this shoddy, constant headache that is bieng a HughesNet customer. As of yet I still have not recieved my 3 restore tokens.I plan on calling in the morning where maybe Ill get lucky and be able to talk to an American and see if I can get HughesNet to keep their word on anything that comes out of their mouths.I really do not enjoy bieng constantly blatantly lied to.AND DO NOT EVER EVER RECOMMEND HUGHESNET TO ANYONE. Listen to my words and take heed! HUGHESNET IS A SCAM in every scence of the word.My contract with HughesNet will run out in less than a month and my wife and I are throwing a big party maybe even a big 2 family reunion you know bring in the ancesters for such a momentous occasion.PLEASE DO NOT EVER consider HughesNet because you will be very unsatisfied and all alone. They don't give a second thought about customer sadisfaction. It really is the sorriest, most pathetic, excuse for a company I have ever had the inconvience to deal with. You might as well call Peggy the Russian you'll get farther with him.GOD BLESS!
