Im not to sure how many other drivers from Nall's Specialized Hauling has looked on here for anything or whatever, but some may be a little afraid of being the first to post or whatever. I have worked for Nall's Specialized Hauling 2 times in my 12 year driving career. The first was shortly of having a full year of OTR experience. I will say back then the company was small with maybe 20 some trucks and about 30 or more trailers. The company was mostly van division, but there was a flatbed specialized side also. I can tell you that the van division by far had to be the worse. Back then the Owner Charles would push drivers, but that was before these new rules were set in place of 11 driving and 3 on duty not driving. There was a lot of issues back then with the owner having the shop to do just enough to get by with the maintainance on the equipment. There were many times when hooking to not only company trailers, but also rental trailers that he had the shop to service that had no brakes hardly left on them at all. They would hold just enough if you needed to slide trailer tandems, but most of the time you had to find a curb to chock the tires with so you could slide. It was always a delight heading to OH with a heavy load of glass that would always get your attention when the brakes on the trailer wouldnt help slow you down on I-71 in KY. After about a month of running that interstate you knew where all the dips were and most of us wouldnt even bother trying to slow down anymore and just ride it out. Among other things wrong was certain trucks had major quarks that would lead to many breakdowns. I myself had a fuel tank to fall off on I-65 in Alabama one afternoon and it was nearly full. This was due to one the straps not even touching the majority of the tank but the Owner assured me it would ride. Like I said I only been driving bout a year and really didnt think it was right, but had to make a living. Well about 3 years ago I returned working for Nall's. It was against my better judgement due to knowing how one the dispatchers was already. The only reason I did return was they were getting fairly new equipment, the pay package was decent, and you could get good miles dispite what you would think of the dispatcher. This dispatcher over time would continue dispatching drivers wether they had hours to run or not. I didnt work there but maybe 3 months. Sorry but my CDL is way to important then to just piss away by a dispatcher that could give a less bout the current driving laws and regulations. To this day the company has had about 10 roll overs due to drivers being ran to hard and not proper rest. The last that I know of was a driver rolled a truck over on a sedan in the tunnel in W.VA on I-70 in Wheeling. 3 were injured in that sedan. None were life threatening, but nevertheless a result of ones dispatching techniques. Also the company had a driver to lay over a truck on a straight stretch of I-71 outside of Louisville KY that resulted in massive ink spillage that shut the interstate down for about a day or longer. The driver in that accident claimed that he was reaching for a cup of coffee. I do know that the driver just had come off a overnight load with very little rest and then reloaded at a facility in Elizabethtown where the company is based out of and proceeded towards OF with this load. The driver is believed to only have had about 2 hours of sleep in last 28 hours. This driver was of course fired for the accident. The funny thing is that the truck was towed away immediately after this accident before news crews could arrive on scene and the trailer didnt have any identifying markings other then the standard trailer number on the nose and rear door. I can tell you the dispatcher to be cautious of and also to beware of is the one that is the primary person in charge now. He has made it clear to other drivers that are still working there that no matter what dispatchers board you are on that if there are loads to be covered that no one is going home with returning in off another load wether you have hours or not you will be required to leave out and deliver the next load and be on time. To him shutting down and taking your 10 hr break is unexceptable and he will fire you. He has fired many drivers in the past for this that i know of. I had to leave the company before I did something I regreted. I just want other drivers to heed this warning or if you are a former or current driver at Nall's to please speak up and drop what you think. I can tell drivers dont let the ad and advertisements of 44 cpm pursuade you of doing something you regret. You will be running illegal and he doesnt care bout you or your life. I dont want to see other drivers lose their jobs for not running what forced to do. After all this day and time its getting a little harder to find a job and plus groceries, gas, and cost of living is going up and up. We dont need to allow dispatchers suck as this one control us. Remember we control them and a professional driver will take their breaks as required. The company can either reschedule that load or whatever needs to be done.
