We bid on a boat and won the bid in December knowing we would have work to do. We had an inspection it came back pretty good except the engines and an AC pump needed to be replaced along with service to AC units and the generator needed some attention. There were cosmetic things to address and things like fire service extinguishers ECT, but over all it was a good boat. No problems with any of the drive gear were found including the shafts. As you know when buying a boat a detailed billing of what needs to be done should be obtained before moving forward on the purchase. I will say we did this and were very diligent in asking for accurate pricing. It was quite frustrating as we were there a week burning time waiting for a bid. I finally said I will take my money elsewhere thats when I got a bid finally. Think that should have been my first clue to run as fast as I can. We came to terms and had a plan in place keeping in mind they expressed this job was a job they do every day. Keep in mind knowing what I know now I never would have purchased this boat. I had my eye on another one and would have paid more for it. When bidding on a boat they give you a basic report from the bank not a lot of detail just the facts of whats wrong. We initially were told the boat came in on its own power sounds good until we paid for it to start only one engine started, we planned on rebuilding anyway so that was not so much the kicker as much as the tanks. The tanks were paid to be cleaned and replumed by the bank. The Banks should take a closer look at what theyre paying for. The Glendenning was to be addressed bank also paid for this item. Here is a list we know of the bank paid for stairs, Glendenning, fuel reroute, oh and clean the tanks this is just what the bank paid for. None of which was done properly none of it! Now lets get to my list I paid for new engines 25,000 Oliver Jones did an amazing job the only thing that went right we hired him outside of Ameritech. Remove replace the engines paint by Chris Burke remove replace generator paint and fix replace bilge pumps fix and flush AC Lines clean power wash the entire engine room and paint. Sand and bottom paint that already has to be redone they gave me a credit on sanding but not the paint go figure. We also paid for a compound and wax I still have blue tape on my transom there compound wax is a spot job here and there basically I could of done the same exact thing myself. Replace bimini and advise had they done that we could have had the top completed they did not do it. I had a bill of 16,000 a little over that now has jumped to 43,000 or so that's Marytech's bill not engines again working through it. Keep in mind I had a survey saying my shafts were good. I also had good rudders no leeks noted on survey. When suddenly I'm called and told I have bad shafts and leaking rudder packing seals it seems suspicious now we find out by Chris Burke this boat never came in on its own power and they dropped the boat in the sling. We also found that the boat was under water no one told us that until the purchase and repairs were being made. We feel the responsibility of the shafts are on them, due to their bad storage and dropping in the sling the boat weighs 34,000 LBS it would have been noted it had a wobble if it came in on its own power as it was presented to us don't you think. It gets better hold on to your seat for 3 months we called to find out how things are going when I will be able to pick the vessel up. I have all my email correspondence there great everything is on track should be ready when the engines get here were ready to roll. They kept blaming the engine builder when in reality they had not started one thing really. The engine room was not prepped still is a mess they had not done any of the repairs on the AC there are many items that could have been done prior to the engines arriving. Long story short I was to pick our boat up on April 15th we didn't leave for 3 more weeks they guaranteed it would be ready it was not even close to being ready. In between all this Omar Ortega was taken off our boat and Stacy Southerland was now in charge. She did a good job managing the job that was dumped on her but the problems kept growing one by one stacking up. The issue is not the fixing the issue is the time line and how it was shoved together with no care in the world for the customer. No care in the world if it was in working condition for an ocean run. The work was not checked problem after problem happened. AC lines to this day are still clogged the tanks are still full of what looks like coffee grounds or cat litter we lost a turbo and injectors due to this garbage in the tanks. The Generator don't run they never even put a filter in it on a rebuild you have to be kidding. I keep thinking are we ever going to make it home. We have an amazing mechanic who stands by his work no matter what he met us everywhere we broke down what a great guy hire him if youre in Fort Lauderdale He does a true refit oh and he stands by his work. All of the issues with this boats engines were to do with the tanks bad fuel we went through 3 dozen ray cores we only run off the center tank now and bladders we can't figure out what they put in the outside tanks looks like kitty litter or coffee grounds I wished I knew who they hired to clean these tanks but as far as I'm concerned again work not checked. Here is another issue before we left the dock we told Chris and Stacy the shaft had a wobble at the back toward the transmission looked like engine alignment our mechanic agreed Chris Burge refused to do anything about it now we have a shaft seal leaking again they installed new shaft seals and we told them it won't make it home with that wobble. Our mechanic told Stacy don't let this boat leave the dock it was not ready she never told us that and they refused to fix it. I'm more upset because they put our lives in danger by sending us out in open water with a vessel they knew was not ready and is still not ready. We are looking for an inspector to look over the bill and all the work done so we can have a statement of what still needs to be done for the second time third and fourth time. I say that because they had to rework 2 and 3 times and is still not right the grounding in the boat and the positive battery cable we paid for all this work that took several times to do and is still not done. Then One of their drivers wrecked our boat on the side swiped a pole they damaged our guess room door and did no repairs. They were tired of the boat and us and just wanted it gone even if it sank there words. This company should be ashamed of themselves they purposely took advantage of people who just wanted to go home they had the boat six months and didn't start any repairs till the last minute and we came down and stayed on top of them. Since the journey started we have spent another 7,000 in repairs that were supposed to be done already I thought of bringing a Lawsuit against them but really what it would cost is not worth it so I choose to inform you all the consumer beware. Unfortunately boat owners are the most taken advantage of because were at their mercy no recourse really. If there was an attorney who would want this case there is life endangerment, loss of wages and hotels slip fees and just plain stress I love boats I always have but I have been turned off by this company they ruin it for good people. Would have been better to ship it home the only thing is my engine guy was wonderful I will refer him to many others and already have. I will buy another boat not from them from Oliver Jones he is an amazing honest business man. My only hope is that someone sees this and asks questions before going forward and know that shipping it home is your best bet for repairs. This Company was very spacific in telling me they have done many large jobs like this when in fact they had not Stacy herself told us that much to my surprise the 15% discount did not make up for wages hotels and time lost not to mention one of us could not travel had to go home due to them wasting our time. This is a small piece of my story and not all I just hope you all are wise on your boat buying even in foreclosed vessels. They can be good just be wise and know you need to be diligent in looking for your repair facility even at home.
