Last April I took my five year old son to Dr. Mayes hoping he could help with our son's developmental and behavioral issues. Dr. M seemed interested as he has a child with similar issues. He asked how I heard of him. I told him I was a patient of Dr. Blom. (Blom has a separate chiro office in one of Mayes office rooms.) Mayes asked me why Im not taking my child to Blom and I asked me to get his approval. I said I would and Mayes proceeded with xrays and exam. On the way out of appt. I mentioned the $40 new patient special to Mayes at the end of appt. He said he would apply it later while writing a note in the file. A couple weeks later I called Mayes office to schedule a follow up and Susan, the office manage said Mayes does not want to treat my son. I asked why and she said that Mayes does not want to hurt his relationship with Blom. I was flabbergasted because I had obtained Bloms approval for my son to see Mayes. Susan also verified this approval. I tried to speak with Mayes but he would not return phone calls, emails or faxes. As a further kick in the face, Mayes charged our insurance $300 for his services thus reducing our son's $ 800 chiro coverage limit for the year. He referred us to a non network chiro who is out of town He insurance efused to honor his $40 new patient special coupon. If Mayes had any any reservations about treating my son he should have halted our initial appt until Blom approved. Or if Mayes was a decent and fair man he would have called me telling me that he was not going to treat my son and to give me the option of choosing the $40 new patient special or billing my insurance. Mayes is more interested in keeping his buddy happy than he was helping a five year old boy and his family. Making up policy after the fact is not professional or customer friendly. I met with Mayes in September and he refused to honor his $40 coupon for new patients as he said it would cost him office staff s timeof a $100 an hour. What a load of poop.
