NCEXCESS A young lady and young man saw me in the yard at my home in Spring, Texas. They supposedley were Phoenix, Arizona

A young woman and a young man approached me in my backyard in Spring, Texas.
They supposedly were college students trying to win enough points to take a trip to Europe
to meet with the BBC. They were selling books; I gave them a check for a set of 4 books
for my grandson. When I looked at the receipt I noted that they had not entered the code
number; they did not reveal that the books would cost $15 to ship, nor that the receipt
stated that it would take up to 120 days to get the merchandise. The receipt states
that there are three days to cancel the order; however, a copy has to be mailed
to the salesperson and a copy to the company. The sales person did not list an address.
I have stopped payment on the check, but am fearful that they may try to use the
check in a fraudulent manner. The young woman said that they were from the neighborhood
had been told by the communications teacher at the University of Houston that they
had to meet neighbors; she also said that her dad was a military person and required
that she earn her own way. A legitimate company would have a place to cancel the
contract and the sales person would have listed her address.
