Netflix Netflix blatantly lies about Unliminited DVDs Per Month...Full Throttle In Effect... Anchorage, Alaska
29th of Jan, 2011 by
To those of you who don't know that "Throttling" is or how Netflix does it, I'm here to explain it to you in as clear terms as possible. I have had Netflix for about 4 months, and at the end of each month for whatever reason, it took 7-10 days for me to receive my next DVD. So I decided to scour the internet to see if anyone else was having the same problems and discovered that many people are, and it's this thing that Netflix does to renters that is called "Throttling"...

Basically, Netflix has to make at least $2 per DVD that you rent, so if you're on a 2-DVD Unlimited Plan (like I am), if you rent 7 or 8 DVDs per month, the total cost for you per DVD is less than $2, so Netflix says, "Hey we're not making much money on this person, so let's slow shipping speeds or delay DVDs sent the them..." So at the beginning of the month your DVDs may come in the mail a day or two later after you return them. However, once you hit that threshold (which is 6 for me) they'll find a way to delay shipping on your next DVD. How do they do this?

Well there's two ways that they can do this: 1. Act like you returned your DVD late and not ship out the next one for days or 2. Ship your DVD from a center that is far away from where you live (for ex. I live in Alaska, so when I hit my threshold of 6, they probably start shipping my DVDs from Miami, Florida). This month, Netflix claimed to ship my DVD on January 22nd, well it's the 30th and it still isn't here. How could a DVD shipped from the nearest shipping facility suddenly take 10 days to get here? When before, I could mail it out on Monday and have it arrive here by Thursday...interesting...

So Netflix blatantly lies that the offer "Unlimited DVDs Per Month"...It's not unlimited at all, if it was unlimited I should be able to get at least 10/month on a 2 DVD plan, but if I go and try to get over 6, it's an issue and they throttle my account. I'm threw with Netflix and their lies, I'm trying Blockbuster now because the CEO has even come out and said they don't throttle accounts like Netflix does. Here's great site that breaks down Netflix ripoff process for you:
