The Raping of the Canadian homeowner continues. I too am a victim of Mr. jessops games.
My property is located close to the new proposed development in Niagara falls, one in which the city of Niagara has desired for sometime. After several very low offers and talk about the city purchasing my property, I had the pleasure of now meeting Mr. Jim Jessop of the Niagara Falls Fire Dept.
After my last indication that I was not interested in selling to the city, I recieved a knock at the door, and enter Mr. Jessop for a fire inspection of my personal home. Mr. Jessop did not attend with anyone else but presented a badge and told me he was doing an inspection. I was getting ready for work and told him that I had no time right now and to please come back later. Jessop stated that if I would not allow him through my house right now, I would be charged criminally with obstruction, and Niagara Regional Police would be escorting me to the jail. I was very taken aback and very upset at this invasion of my privacy, as my family was mortified by this invasion of our rights and quiet enjoyment of our home. Jessop proceeded to tramp through our home with no respect, he did not remove his boots and tramped across our white livingroom carpet with mud, went into our bedrooms looking through our closets and even in our food pantry, down into our basement our laundry room, tool room etc.
He took pictures of our bedroom, livingroom,my office and checked our fire alarms which were all functional and then left.
My family and I felt that we had been violated, and did not feel comfortable in our home anymore.
Approximately 2 weeks later we were served with numerous fire code violations to go to court.
I attended at the Fire dept on Morrison Ave in Niagara Falls and spoke to Jessop personally, who was arrogant and very condescending. He stated that my batteries in my Fire alarms were not operational, which was an outright bold faced lie! That a railing going to the basement had a screw missing and that it is a building code hazard, that he saw one of our electrical outlets in the bedroom sparking and that we would need a full electrical inspection of our home. He further stated that he believed our home had been previously used as a grow op or is currently being used as a growop and that there may be evidence of toxic mould and we would need to leave the home immediately.
I could not believe what I was hearing coming out of this guys mouth!
First off our home has no problems whatsoever with electrical, there is a brand new circuitbreaker box and the home was completely rewired and inspected by a lic electrician.
As far as our home being a growop, I don t even smoke!
I have owned our house for 13 years so obviously there has never been a growop there.
But it seemed that Jessop was pulling things out of the air to make up.
Jessop stated that it would probably be cheaper if we sold the home, then the amount of remidiation it would take to repair it. How convenient!
I immediately saw the game right there. Jessop was there as a tool of the city of Niagara falls to get me to sell my home.
I contacted a lawyer and was told it would cost approximtely $15,000 in fees to take it to court, and that i would be better off to plead guilty and accept a fine. I did not have the monies to pay the lawyer and borrowed a secured credit line with the bank against my home. Mr. Jessop furthermore went and pulled a title abstract on my home, and then contacted the Bank of Montreal, and suggested that they pull my credit line as the home was going to be demolished.
I took the matter to court and won against all the charges, as I had an ESA inspection of the home done and also had a written affidavit from the bank indicating that jessop had called them and encouraged them to call in my loan. After $15,000 in fees, countless inspections by ESA etc. I had won.!
Approximately 6 weeks later I received a bill from the Niagara Falls Fire dept for remidiation work that was performed at my house in the amount of $4200.00. What work?? I called the fire dept and was informed if it was not paid that it would go to the credit bureau and ruin my credit rating!
I through my lawyer sent a letter out to Equifax credit Bureau indicating the bogus activity of the Niagara Falls Fire Dept, and had i file put on my bureau indicating this is in dispute.
Approximately 2 weeks later Jim Jessop showed up at my home again, and said that they needed to do a follow up inspection. I refused to let him into my home, and he indicated I would be charged if i did not. I told him go ahead and have me charged, I don t trust you and i want you off of my property. Jessop called someone on his cellphone, and within an hour a hazmat team showed up at my house. Jessop proceeded to explain to them, that he personally saw me dumping chemicals of oil and other things down my drain in my garage. This is way too much!!!
i was informed that if I did not move my car out from my garage that it would be towed. I protested and refused to move my vehicle. The tow truck was called, the police were called and my car was winched from my garage and impounded, right from my garage and private property!
The concrete floor of my garage was jackhammered up and the pipes vacuumed out with a big machine, all the while Jessop grinning and standing next to the police. (Probably a good move for him! because I think you know how I was feeling, wouldn t you)
After an hour of destroying my 2 car garage Jessop and the team left. of course there was no toxic chemicals or whatever other BS he had told them. I was left with having to repair my garage, get my car out from the pound, pay towing fees and to add insult to injury received a clean up bill a week later for them wrecking my garage!
I told them that under no way was I gonna pay for this fabricated BS!! The city informed me that it would be put on my tax roll and interest charged.
I called the lawyer again and spent another $6,000.00 fighting this crap. I attended at the fire station and wished to file a complaint and charge against Jim Jessop and was informed by Patrick Burke Fire Chief that he(Jessop) is just doing his job, and that I would have to take the matter to court again.
I have racked up well over $30,000 in costs now not including the time off work, that I have had to spend with this crap.
I was slowly being drained of monies on bogus made up charges. 1) JIM JESSOP is the most corrupt, lieing , deceitful SOB that ever got into a position of trust!
2) The city of Niagara Falls supports this corruption as they make an enormous amount of monies from bogus fire charges and fines.
3) Bogus fire dept fines goes right into the cities coffers and is now surpassing parking tickets as the Main revenue maker for the city of NF.
4) It is not about Fire safety at all but about making money.
5) Jessop is now a celebrity on the lecture circuit telling other Municipalities how they can increase their revenue by fire code violations( grow ops the new favourite lie. batteries etc etc) This corruption needs to stop as we are all victims of it! And we all pay for it!
What happened to the fire prevention office? It doesn t exist anymore, its all about the $$$ and how much they can get.
So folks, homeowners, landlords and other property owners. DONT BUY IN NIAGARA AND DONT MOVE TO NIAGARA TO SUPPORT THIS CORRUPTION!! AND LOCK YOUR DOORS BECAUSE IT IS COMING TO YOUR MUNICIPALITY ALSO! |

the revenue generated by the City of Niagara Falls, with this bogus, fire code safety issue, trumpeted by Jim Jessop would make most corporations blush. When a private individual does it, its called EXTORTION. But when the city does it, its called safety.

Its amazing how they can pull this off without the populace creating a riot!
I know we all see the sad pictures of a fires aftermath and especially ones that involve loss of life. They make headline news.
How come we never see the poor homeowner that is kicked out of his house, or has to sell his car, or take his kid out of hockey, to pay for the bogus fines and stuff slapped on him by Jessop.
Why do we not have a Civilian Inquiry board to regulate these thieves?
Should there not be accountability???
When a homeowner can get a 10, 000.00 fine for not having a battery in a fire alarm, and the only person that says that there wasn t one was the corrupt fire inspector, does this not constitute a conflict of interest, since he generates money for the city?
its not about right and wrong at all, Or fire safety whatsoever!! but about making money, on the backs of the poor and ordinary hard working citizen. |
