Notter School of Pastry Arts Had to withdraw from school due to medicall and Notter School of Pastry Arts refuses to refund unused tuition. Orlando,

I enrolled and paid in full $21,000.00 for school, uniform, and tools for Notter School of Pastry Arts' 24 week course to begin October 18th, 2010. I began and did 5 weeks of school. Unfortunately I torn my medial meniscus and cartlidge in my right knee standing up at the school. I did not file a complaint but took a three month leave of absence. I had surgery done by Dr. James Acker in Ormond Beach on December 8th, 2010 for which I had to pay in full due to no medical insurance. He had to perform more work on my knee than what he thought. He told me my body would be the judge of returning to school but that I could not stand for any length of time and it may take over a year or better to heal. I returned after 3 months for only 1 day of school and my leg couldn't keep up even though the school gave me a stool. The doctor agreed with me that I should not and wrote a letter for me. The Student Handbook states that you must have this letter and that you will be refunded unused hours (tuition) within 30 days. Chef Issac Tamada called and told me he would break rules for me to come back anytime I wanted to, but I just couldn't with the pain I had. I emailed my withdrawal, sent certified mail along with the doctor's letter, made numerous calls, and even text messaged. At this time the 30 days are long gone and they will not acknowledge me and have not returned any money to me. The "Financial Committee" has always been in meetings. One employee that would talk to me told me that the refund was being processed but she didn't know for how much or when I would get it. And she constantly stated they were meeting and talking about it. I even called crying and the "Financial Committee" wouldn't take my call. So at the point I have received nothing in return. They are a complete scam and I intend to seek counsel if not reimbursed.
