| NYX cosmetics advertised a 12-hour online sale and did not deliver one. They failed to prepare their website for the traffic it would receive during the sale. Thus, making it impossible for most of their customers to participate. Instead of postponing the sale and fixing their shoddy server problem, they just extended the sale and had customers wait hours and hours in hopes of somehow being one of the lucky few to get through to checkout and make a purchase. The initial sale advertised their products to be available for $1.20 each (with some exclusions, of course). Though adding these items to shopping carts took hours of refreshing the same page over and over without ever really knowing if the items successfully added or not. Then some of the items would get duplicated in the shopping cart with no way for customers to change the quantity without having to remove it completely and start over again. The details of the sale stated that someone from their team would be available via their facebook fan-page to answer everyone's questions "all day and night". But this also was a lie, as the page was abandoned around the 9th or 10th hour of the sale. Many customers (including myself) had multiple incidents in which our shopping carts would be swapped with others' carts and we could see items on our screen that other customers were attempting to purchse. Which definitely raised questions about the site's network security. During the sale they urged customers to "be patient", "hang in there", and "stick with us" while they supposedly were trying to fix the problems with their website. These updates came to us via twitter and facebook post that at times were mocking in tone and vague to say the least. At the end of the sale those of us who waited patiently for over 16 hours from the beginning but were unable to purchase anything were told to e-mail them so that they could provide us with a coupon for 50% off and free shipping for one week. This offer only added insult to injury as it was no where near the initial deal of almost 80% off on some items. Not to mention that after the sale they shut the site down completely for a mere 3 hours and all of a sudden the site was back up and running in perfect working order. With their prices marked back up to normal and no issues whatsoever. I don't understand why they didn't just do that in the first place! Time-out the sale and fix the server problem. Or, simply provide us all with a coupon code that would let people come back and choose a certain amount of items each that could be purchased for the initial sale price of $1.20 each. That way the servers would not get over-loaded and people could still get the sale they were promised. They did provide a customer service phone number as well as an e-mail address to customers but have yet to return any e-mails and have hung up on several of us that tried to call and voice our concerns, questions, and requests. NYX has lied to so many customers and falsely advertised a sale that never actually happened. I would stay away from this company all-together as through more online research I also found reports of them taking orders on their site and never actually delivering purchased products to people. This company is a complete waste of time. They have no regard for customer satisfaction or for ethical business practices period. I will personally NEVER spend a dime on their products ever again. Even with a 90% off coupon code. They have lost me as a customer along with countless others who were misled and lied to. |
