OCWEN MORTGAGE CORP
OCWEN MORTGAGE CORP ANYTHING TO GET YOUR HOUSE FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida
15th of May, 2011 by User478265
Wow, I just read a complaint about Ocwen, we are sisters from a different mother! I started over a year ago trying to get a loan modification from Ocwen. They dragged it out, month after month, for about five months. They first tried to submit it to the government modification program, and though it was turned down because I had too much equity in my home, they submitted it again the following month. Reams and reams of information had to be repeated each month. Finally, they considered it for "in-house" modification, and in the meantime sent me information on how I could turn over my deed in lieu of foreclosure !!! (I was not behind, and owe 130,000 on a home worth 260,000!), and a bill for over 5,000 dollars to pay my mortgage for the next three months to avoid foreclosure (again, I was NOT BEHIND on my mortgage at all), and generally made a play for my home. They are like sharks circling blood in the water. You are not "allowed" to contact them for 30 days while they consider your mortgage information, only to discover that they are waiting for more information at the end of the 30 days! Finally, I reported them to the FTC, who apparently does not have jurisdiction, who transferred it to the SEC. After that complaint was filed, I was suddenly granted a modification of a whopping 0.12% for 30 months. In order to do this, they rolled my taxes and insurance into my mortgage, and it actually went UP 300 dollars a month instead of down. Big help! Finally, I was laid off from my job about six months after that. I called them again, asking for a modification, filled out all the paperwork AGAIN, and was given a "forbearance" for three months, "while I looked for work and they considered my modification." At the end of three months, though I had not found a job, they sent me a bill to not only pay the difference between the forbearance amount and the mortgage, but additional "penalties and interest" that added almost an extra 300 dollars a month to my mortgage amount AGAIN, and an arbitrary amount for my next mortgage payment. I also had to, you guessed it, resubmit all my paperwork again for the modification. Again, you guessed it, they sent it to the government, even though they knew I had too much equity in the house to qualify. They made me fill out all the separate paperwork for the "in-house" modification AGAIN, because the government forms are apparently not the same in their minds, (I have seen them each a dozen times...no difference). In the meantime, they have trashed my credit score by putting in that my mortgage is three months behind (the forbearance period). I was also informed, in a roundabout way, that because I was on unemployment and that was not a long term income, that I probably would not qualify for a modification. (They asked me to call my state unemployment office and get a letter from them verifying that I would receive unemployment for a long period of time!!) So I will not get this modification either. In the meantime, they continue to tack interest and penalties onto my "back" mortgage amount, and are just waiting until they can foreclose on my home. All the while they tell you that they are trying to help you. I once had a conference call between myself, a representative from HOPE, and Ocwen. We spoke to four different people. Each one quoted a different mortgage amount, and a different due date. When she went over the numbers with them, and said that it was obvious that all I needed to make ends meet was a reduction in my interest rate, they still did not budge. Finally, again, after filing a complaint with the SEC they gave me that 0.12% for 30 months that increased my mortgage 300 a month. They are absolutely trying to steal homes out from under people, and the more equity you have built up the better for them, and the more aggressive and blatant they are in their tactics. I also contacted my state senator in the hopes of getting some help, they returned my call and are also looking into this company. The problem is that they are foreign owned, and they stay right on the line legally. Each time you call you get someone with an Indian accent from a call center somewhere else. I have never once spoken to anyone who does not have a foreign accent in the seven years I have had this mortgage company. By the way, I have lived in this house for almost 23 years, and never missed or been late on a mortgage payment. Unfortunately, Ocwen bought my mortgage in a bank package deal about eight years ago, and it has been hell on earth ever since. Unfortunately, since I am unemployed, and they have trashed my credit score, my hopes of going elsewhere for a mortgage are nil, and I will likely have to sell my home. I will give it away before I will let Ocwen take it!
