Old Republic Default
Old Republic Default Services Old Republic, or Old Republic Default Services

I'm an Illinois Real Estate broker, and to drum up business I do what are called bpo's, or Broker Price Opinions. I take a picture of a designated address, find three active listings, and three listings that have sold in the last three to six months. All comparables must be similar in age, location, and square footage. Old Republic Default Services, located in California is a company that assigns bpo's to agents all over the country. After completing so many reports, they also assign listings to , "Some", of their agents. I was completing bpo's for this company for about a year and a half. They have a Quality Control department that handles issues regarding the timeliness and accuracy of the reports. After recieving a report you may have to call another agent to schedule an appointment to take interior photos. The company also asks for exterior only photos to be taken at times. I had one particular report that was given to me on Melrose street in Lakeview. I remember it very well because I use to live across the street from the property. The property was a building that had been converted into a condo. Unable to find a condo with such massive square footage, I used other buildings that hadn't been converted to condos. I explained to the Old Republic representative why I used buildings instead of condos in my report. The representative was unable to effectively communicate why they were unable to pass the report. Instead, I got a laundry list of insults, and threats. Since we weren't communicating well I told the representative that they could use the pictures I took and let someone else complete the report. I said this very nicely and respectfully. After I said that he said, I'll TAKE CARE OF YOU BUDDY. He called my LITTLE MAN, and a bunch of other things that I can't recall. I stopped recieving reports, and when I called to find out why everyone kept saying, You messed up on a few reports. How can you mess up when your company has quality control? Mess ups rarely happen, and should be credited to quality control if ever they should happen. This company is a scam because agents drive all over to take pictures for them, only to be talked to like dirt by a faceless person. I've taken classes to understand how to complete bpo's, yet my expertise is meaningless to some of these reps who feel that agents are a dime a dozen. I was talked to like mud by this person and feel that I've not only done nothing to deserve this treatment. But, I've bent over backwards to make sure the job was done right. In return, all I get are lies, "You messed up on a few reports". If that is correct, what responsibility does quality control take in this supposed mistake. Personally, I feel that I got some guy that was having a very bad day and knew he could take it out on me, and that there wasn't anything I could do about it. For now, he's right. I use to make between 500- 1500 a month with Old Republic, now 0. And my name has been slandered in addition to the 0, so I'm in the negative now.
