Outhouse Storage Outhouse Storage II The theft of personal belongings York, Pennsylvania
10th of Dec, 2011 by User112686
This goes out to the person who had his or her personal belongings stolen from a storage unit in Shelby N.C. owned by the Outhouse Storage Co. based out of York PA. There has been many similar incidents like yours here at the Joppatown/Edgewood location of Outhouse Storage in Baltimore Maryland.Upon reading your report there seems to be a common link of what you have experienced and what I have observed here at this location. Having first-hand knowledge, this is essentially whats going on:The owner, Barry Rauhauser does have first-hand knowledge about the theft's from these storage unit's.How I know is, because I/myself personally called him and told him about his one self appointed grounds keeper who work's under the direction of the site manager that has been stealing things from the units.I have witnessed this personally and had informed both the site manager and Mr. Rauhauser. Upon bringing this to light, neither person has taken any steps to have this individual removed from the property. This person has key's to the units that are "locked-out" as a result of late or delinquent payments. This individual is also responsible for cutting-off locks of said units to install the company provided locks of which he holds the keys.I have seen this person remove items from people's unit's while either: a)after the lock has just been cut-off. and B) come back later to open the unit with the key to the company provided lock. There has been several complaints in regards to personal belongings missing after the renter has paid-up their rent and goes back in their units. The individual performing these acts is not on the company pay-roll and acts as Lone Wolf in lieu of free rent on one of the units that he has.I have also talked with other renters who have been needlessly "locked-out" under the ruse that Outhouse Storage never received a payment when in fact Outhouse Storage has purposely withheld checks and money orders for almost up to 30 day's to make them late so as to have access to the units. I know because, I had this happen to me and another person, who showed me copies of her checks when they were mailed out.Outhouse Storage are also capable of destroying Money Orders and claim they never recieved them hence, allowing them to once again get into your unit. This is a scam and there are profits to be made off the misfortune of others by auctioning off your belongings.I have (3) storage units with them and WILL be moving out soon. There's a lot of other stuff going on "behind the curtain" at Outhouse Storage and can provide more info. if necessary.
