Scott Rice of Pages4Pennies responded to a post on a message board and offered to trade search engine optimization work for sports memorabilia. I had read an earlier post on scam Report but it appeared to be an isolated case. He was responsive at the beginning and acted quite professional. Since he was reasonably close to my location, I felt fairly comfortable in dealing with him. We agreed to trade my original artwork, signed by a well-known player, for SEO work for two of my websites. I shipped the item after he indicated via email exactly what I would receive in return. He even sent a preliminary outline. Needless to say, once he had my item in hand---valued at over $300---he stopped doing any work. When I questioned him via email several times, he kept promising the work would be done. More than 3 months have now passed and he and his assistant with whom he put me in touch have failed to deliver anything but empty promises, missed deadlines and excuses. They failed to respond to my final request to finish the SEO they promised. I have filed a mail fraud complaint against him and plan on following up with the Dayton Police Department's internet fraud division. Hire your brother-in-law. Hire the kid down the street. Hire someone you don't particularly like. Just don't hire or make any type of deal with Scott Rice and Pages4Pennies.
