The cursor on my Sony laptop, froze and I looked up Sony computer support and found PC Care 24/7 I thought they were a legitimate Sony representative so I called them. I told them my Sony was under warranty and asked of they could help me, the gentlemen said sure but it will cost you $59.00, because it is a driver problem that is not covered under your warranty. I asked them if they worked for Sony and they said yes, so I was angry but agreed to pay the money, and the gentlemen told me that my credit card would not be charged if the were able to resolve the issue. Well after talking to multiple technicians with foreign accents that I could not understand half the time, and 6 hours on the phone, they informed me that they were unable to fix the problem, but when I reminded them that I was told that I would not be charged they put me on hold and a supervisor came on and told me because they did some work on the Drivers that I would be charged. I was furious, and told them I would cancel any payment and that I had tape recorded my earlier conversation and this was a breach of a verbal contract. He put me on hold for 15 minutes with the most ear piercing music and came back on and said the charge was taken off my account. At this point I have many concerns: They shadowed my computer so could they get my passwords?, They have my credit card information so could they charge to my account? I talked to my bank and they said to cancel the credit card in case they charge and I want to dispute the charge, which is a pain, because I have automatic payments for bills coming out of this card. Today I talked to a legitimate Sony rep that fixed my computer over the phone in a matter of 15 minutes, and they said they would flag this company and report them to their headquarters for further investigation. I am really nervous about cancelling my credit card but even more nervous about them making false charges or hacking my computer somehow, has anyone had a similar experience with this company?
