plentyoffish.com POF, Plenty of Fish High pressure sales tactics on site that falsly promises 100% Free DatingServices. Internet
10th of Jan, 2011 by User437235
After sending a message through the site night, it becomes apperent that plentyoffish is not 100% free by is set up as a high pressure sales scheme with the purpose of obtaining your credit card information so that they can bill you outlandish fees that compete with Match.com and other pay sites, At present, they are charging a fee to see if your messages sent through the website have been read by other users or not. "Unlock this feature for 8 cents." "Click Here to get goldfish points." You cannot purchase this feature for JUST 8 cents per message. Instead you are lead to a page with the following pricing scheme. Pricing Scheme
100 credits for $9.95 USD
215 credits for $18.95 USD
500 credits for $37.95 USD It is likely that they will eventually begin charging to send e-mail,but at present they do not. They already began the practice of filtering e-mail addresses to messages that you send to people in many instances. Also, fter filling out a lengthy survey with some very personal and intimate questions you get "Congratulations the results of that questionnaire indicate that you have a good chance of forming and maintaining a long term relationship. Unlike many who did not pass this test you now have the ability to become a "Serious Member"!" You ckick Upgrade and it takes yoy to a page with the following pricing scheme where the cheapest you can pay for this feature is $29.40 for just 3 months. No option for just one month. Pricing Scheme
1 year @ $5.95/month ($71.40)
6 months @ $7.80/month ($46.80)
3 months @ $9.80/month ($29.40)
Followed by the following HIGH PRESSURE SALES statements...
- Let everyone know you are seriously looking for someone.
- Massive increase in emails.
- Number of people viewing your profile triples.
- Send unlimited free gifts on email.
- 100/150/210 credits depending on membership to be used for placing gifts on profiles.
- Stand out in all searches.

- This upgrade doubles your chances of meeting someone.

All in all this website works its scam by billing itself as a 100% Free Dating website, and then tries to hook line and singer lonely people by usining high pressure sales tactices to intice you to pay. Do not use this site! Just go to a local bar or club with some friends. Your chances are much better! The site used to be advertiser supported, which is how they got me on there but once they got their user base built up by December of 2010, they starting to use high pressure sales tactics. All they want is your credit card number so that they can start billing you!

Don't take the bait! Stay Away!

yea but its still free and meeting people or contacting at least is possible if you type your info cleverly. Like typing dot com with zeros meaning the obvious .com or using a zero in h0tmail. the filters are sensitive but not hard to beat.

All in all its the only free one I know of, just dont upgrade. do the work yourself and browse for locals. Read profiles, and message aloooot of people. Its got me juggling too many girls to keep up with =-)
