Powerprofiles.com Blackmail! Name and phone # stolen, must pay to fix Internet

PowerProfiles.com scammed me and has ripped off many other people. In August 2011 PowerProfiles.com took my name and cell phone number to create a phony business and "profile" it on their website. Type in my last name in a Google search, and this nonexistent business--with my phone number--appears near the top. PowerProfiles does this to force people to go to the website and try to fix the problem. They invite you to "edit your profile" -- i.e., to try and erase the fraud. Surprise! They charge $30 to fix the mess they created. Plus, to fix the error they demand that you fill out a 2-page application, complete with your credit card information, business filings, and more personal info so they can rip you off even more. The also suggest that you become a "premium member" and pay hundreds of dollars. I own a business and need my phone number and name to be associated with MY business only; not with a sham LLC set up by PowerProfiles to blackmail me. The company did not respond to requests to remove my information. I filed a complaint with the Montana Department of Justice Consumer Protection office. P.S. PowerProfiles buys names and info from Localeze.
