PowerScore PowerScore® Ultimate Test Preparation, PowerScore, Inc. Fraud, break of contract, scam, deceit, low quality, hostile customer service Char

I am a recent college graduate who paid $1,295 for a Full-Length LSAT PowerScore course, which was held in-person. My course was in San Jose, and ran from October 10, 2011 to November 30, 2011. This review is about their Full-Length LSAT course. The class took place in a cold and windowless conference room, in a loud hotel that permitted indoor smoking. My instructor, Ty, had never been to law school. He regularly brought his laptop and cellphone to class for personal use during class hours. A lot of class-time was wasted talking about his fondness for bars and alcoholic drinks. Once his mid-term evaluations got in, things just got worse. On Day 1, he assured the class that the average PowerScore student saw a score increase of at least 11 points. This is a marketing gimmick that isn’t in the Enrollment Agreement, which guarantees no such thing. Ty stressed how important it was to attend every class and do all the homework to achieve this score increase. I attended every class and did all the homework, but my score did not increase. That is because my course was a disaster! Here are some of the problems that affected my course: 1. Disruptive Noise 2 out of 4 practice tests were continuously interrupted by noise. This noise went on for the entire test in both instances. People yelled outside, loud pop music blared, people whistled up and down the hall, and young child screamed. These were just some of the distractions. During the second test, an unsupervised child hockey team played right next door to my testing room. Although the entire class complained about them, neither my instructor nor his replacement did something about the noise. In response to complaints, my instructor, Ty, actually made jokes and laughed at our concerns. No refunds or make-up classes were offered for the two out of four tests. 2. Course Material Not Covered My instructor waited until the last day of class to announce that he didn’t cover all the material. He did not answer which material he left out, but vaguely suggested students “revisit Chapters 1-4.” According to PowerScore, these were the most important chapters. PowerScore still claims no material was missed, even though my instructor admitted otherwise. 3. Unannounced Room Changes PowerScore’s Enrollment Agreement says PowerScore must notify you of any class changes. My class changed location at least three times, and I was never notified. Not by phone, not by e-mail, not on their website. Before then, the only time PowerScore contacted me was to sell me additional products. PowerScore still denies they violated their Agreement. 4. Freezing Cold Classroom The temperature in PowerScore’s tiny, windowless conference room was less than 63 degrees Fahrenheit. The room had no adjustable thermostat, and was much colder than the hotel lobby. My instructor, Ty, would not change the temperature— even after people complained. 5. Aftermath:
Since my instructor, Ty, did not relate to any of my concerns, I contacted customer service starting November 26, 2011. I thought PowerScore would take my complaints seriously. Instead, their customer service took several days to reply to me. Even though PowerScore holds classes and continues to make sales during Thanksgiving and over the weekend, their customer service department will not answer you on those days. When they finally did answer, customer service was shockingly rude and dismissive. Instead of relating to my concerns, they copy-pasted text that did not relate to my question… over and over again. They did not even read my e-mails! They claimed that because I showed up on the first day of class, PowerScore fulfilled all its obligations toward me— and that therefore, I was not entitled to even a partial refund. That makes no sense! According to PowerScore, you WILL NOT get any refund the moment you step into the classroom, even if your class is affected by situations not disclosed in their Enrollment Agreement— like noise, unannounced room changes, and material your instructor does not cover. It’s a trap! It’s fraud! After I did not receive a reply for several days, I called customer service on December 12. They did not know what my name was or even what my complaint was! I was put on hold repeatedly, and told that the person talking to me had the final say in my case. One day after my call, I receive an e-mail telling me that my case was “closed,” and I was not entitled to anything— not even a partial refund. This is a scam! Since PowerScore refuses to forward my complaint to their CEO, David M. Killoran, I tried to find his e-mail address. His contact information isn’t available anywhere! I’d have to pay a private detective to find it, which would be a better way to spend the $1,295 PowerScore scammed from me. If you want to raise your LSAT score, look elsewhere. PowerScore’s LSAT class did not raise my score, Powerscore lowered it and wasted my time. And now I’m $1,295 poorer.
