PrideShip Held my possessions hostage for almost a month Fairfeild, Ohio
31st of Oct, 2011 by User499074
I used UShip.com to list a move of my belongings from Largo FL to Las Vegas NV. PrideShip gave me a very reasonable bid - cheaper than I could do it myself. All of their reviews on UShip.com were extremely positive. I did a google search and found
the earlier ripoff report on this site. When I asked Prideship about it, they told me that the goods were being held because they were illegal. They always sound very professional and had reasonable answers to all questions. I'm sure they
will have a great story to account for this report. Do not believe anything they tell you. They insisted on payment up front and told me that making the payment through Paypal protected me. As soon as they had my money, they stopped answering my calls. They were supposed to deliver on 10-1, but we mutually agreed to delay the delivery date until 10-5. The night before they were to deliver my goods, I got an email saying that the truck broke down and it would take several days to fix. They said
that it should be fixed by Monday - about 5 days away. On Monday, I got a text message from the driver saying that he was supposed to be able to pick up his truck but couldn't because they were closed due to the holiday. This is an
obvious lie because a repair shop will never tell you to that your vehicle will be ready on a day when they will be closed. In the same text message he said that PrideShip was sending another truck from FL, which would be there by Tuesday evening. Why would they send another truck if the current truck was being fixed? After this we received no communication for about a week when we received an email from someone new saying that he had just received approval to give us a discount on the shipment (no amount was mentioned) and that a driver was being
flown out to deliver our shipment. I responded by asking when my shipment would arrive and received no response. Just a note - I never received any kind of discount that was mentioned in the email. Just another tactic to keep me quiet
a little longer. To clarify – PrideShip was aware that I was meeting them in Las Vegas to store my belongings, but that I did not live there and would be in a hotel until my stuff was delivered. This is a little unusual so I wanted to make it clear that
I wasn’t sitting at home waiting, I was racking up hotel and restaurant bills while waiting for Prideship. I finally decided that they must have stolen my goods and never intended to deliver them. What else would account for this type of treatment? I contacted PrideShip, uship.com, paypal and visa to report my goods stolen and dispute the
payment to PrideShip. I received no response from PrideShip. Paypal told me that they do not do dispute resolution for services. Just a note - when PrideShip was trying to convince me to pay up front, they told me that I was protected by using paypal - wrong! UShip was the biggest disappointment. After accepting a $200 commission on the shipment, they offered nothing but platitudes. They were VERY sorry, but there was nothing they could do. As far as I’m concerned, they are as bad as PrideShip. They only ones to offer any help was visa, who opened a payment dispute to retrieve the funds from PrideShip's account. 3 days later, after I'd left Las Vegas assuming that my stuff had been stolen, I got an anonymous text message saying that it would be in Las Vegas at noon the next day. I had to buy a last minute airline ticket, rent a car and another
hotel to go receive my goods. In all, I spent over $2000 while waiting for PrideShip to meet their obligation. I understand that things can happen to delay delivery, but what was unacceptable was the continual lies and refusal to speak
with me directly. They hid behind promises that were never met and lies. If they'd been up front in the beginning, I could have made arrangements to leave and return, but instead I was strung along with what PrideShip had to know were
lies.
