I made the mistake of using Printplace.com for our time-sensitive order. I checked all turn-around times and made sure that Printplace.com could satisfy my order. I logged into the system and placed my order. I was taken to an area where I uploaded my designs and I saw the proof. I liked the way the proof looked. So, I approved the proof and looked forward to receiving my materials.


The day that I was supposed to receive my materials, I logged in to the system to see what time my order would be ready. I was then notified that my order had been placed on HOLD because of the artwork.


I did not understand this, so I called them immediately to find out what the problem was. I approved the proof that I was given, so the materials should have been printed. I was told that even though I approved the proof... their department decided to place a HOLD on the printing.


I asked if I could approve the proof over the phone as is and still receive my materials that day (the day they were promised and "guaranteed.") They told me that I would not be receiving the materials that day... it would be the next week before they were even printed. I could "upgrade" to same day printing for an additional charge or I could cancel the order for a $15 fee. What!?!


Be aware that Printplace.com will NOT REFUND your order once it has been placed... even if they HOLD your order after you approve it. They will then force you to either pay a $15 cancellation fee for an order that they never even printed... or they will force you to pay an express fee for items that you ordered within the proper timeframe.


I am a Graphics Designer, and have worked with MANY print shops nationwide. I have NEVER had one of them HOLD my design after I approved the proof. I have NEVER had any of them charge me a cancellation fee. I have NEVER had one of them charge me an express fee because they decided not to print my materials on time.


I will NEVER print from them again, and I suggest that you stay FAR, FAR away. Their customer service is HORRIBLE, and they will find a way to charge you extra.


By the way... their gloss coating is terrible! Go with a place that has higher quality gloss coating... or better yet... a place that offers UV coating at a lower cost than Print Place.


STAY AWAY! Unless you like sub-par products, terrible customer service, and being OVERCHARGED! You have been warned!
