Purrfect Auto repair
Purrfect Auto repair I spent thousands of dollars at Purrfect Auto and my car still doesn't run properly! West Covina, California
7th of Jul, 2011 by User171576
On April 1, 2010, the vehicle, a 2003 Ford Mustang GT, was taken to Purrfect Auto Service located at 730 S. Orange Ave, Unit B West Covina, CA 91790 for a new engine installation. I was told by Hamid, that the cost for the repairs including labor would be $2,600 out the door taxes included, which is what is stated on the estimate. Hamid explained to me that he would call me when the engine arrived and that the car would be ready approximately on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. On April 6, 2010, I received a phone call stating that the motor mounts and exhaust bushings needed to be replaced. I went in to the shop and the engine had already been removed and disassembled. I then asked Hamid if I could purchase my own parts and he stated yes, but labor would have to be charged. I explained to Hamid that I didnt feel I should be charged additional labor, as the engine had already been removed. He then stated he would give me a call the following day in regards to the labor and also to notify me about the arrival of the engine, as it had yet not arrived. At that time, I explained to Hamid that he should have informed me beforehand that the motor mounts needed to be replaced and that additional labor shouldnt be charged because the engine had already been removed. Hamid did agree that it was his fault for not informing me about the motor mounts, but labor would have to be charged regardless. On April 9, 2010 I called the shop and spoke with Jesse Espinoza, who informed me that the replacement engine had already been installed, but was being tested by the mechanics. He went on to say it was expected to be ready the following day and would call once the vehicle was ready to be picked up. The following day, April 10, 2010, I called and was told it was still being tested by the mechanics and I would receive a phone call once it was ready. I received a phone call from Jesse at approximately 3:30pm stating the vehicle was ready to be picked up, but was told that the catalytic converters were plugged. Jesse recommended that the vehicle taken be to an exhaust shop to repair the problem, as those types of repairs are not done at Purrfect Auto Service. I arrived to the shop at approximately 4:30pm and was told the car was ready. However, when presented with the invoice, the amount on the final invoice was $3,050.00. I explained to the cashier on duty what they additional charge was, and he stated it was due to the labor. I asked to speak to Hamid and was told he was not available, but he could call him. The cashier called Hamid and they began to speak in their native language. I asked him to place the phone on speaker and I asked him about the additional charge. He stated that I had approved the additional labor and that now I was just playing games with him and that the car would not be released until the final amount was paid. I continued to explain to Hamid that I had not approved the final amount and he began to raise his voice at me. I explained to Hamid that I did not appreciate the tone of voice he was taking and Hamid responded by stating, I dont care if you like it. Just pay it or leave and hung up. I felt I had no other choice, but to pay the full amount as the vehicle is a much needed commodity. On April 12, 2010, the vehicle was taken to a shop where such repairs are done and was told that one of the converters was broken. The vehicle was then taken back to Purrfect Auto, because the car was still not functioning properly. When driven on the freeway, the vehicle would not exceed 60mph. On April 14, 2010, I was told the car needed yet another engine because the first one that had been installed was no good. Again, the car was left for the repairs to be done. It wasnt until April 21, 2010 that the shop contacted me, and informed me that the second engine had been installed, but the exhaust still needed to be fixed. On April 24, 2010 the vehicle was picked up by a tow truck and taken to an exhaust shop to repair the problem, but the car was still making a strange noise and the check engine light appeared. The following day I was looking at the engine, and found that a bolt was sticking out, which caused it to interfere with a belt that is found in the engine. The car was taken back to the shop on April 26, 2010 and the bolt was fixed, but the check engine light still appeared. It was then found that a sensor needed to be replaced, which was causing the light to appear. Again, I was advised to leave the car another day because the part was not arriving and it was not recommended for the vehicle to be driven. On April 27, 2010 I received a phone call stating that now the transmission was the problem and needed to be fixed and would run me $3,000. I strongly feel that something was done intentionally to sabotage the transmission, as I have never encountered any problems at all. When I first took the vehicle for inspection on April 1, 2010, I was told by Hamid himself that the car had a solid transmission. I refused to leave the car at Purrfect for any further repairs and picked up the vehicle and took it back to my residence. A few minutes later, I went out to move the vehicle out of the drive way and the car would no longer move. On April 13, 2010, I began to search the internet for some help and it was then that I came upon the Bureau of Automotive Repair website and also decided to check the licensing for Purrfect Auto Service, only to discover that their license has a delinquent status. Since Purrfect Auto Service is operating without proper state licensure, I strongly feel that I should be refunded the amount that Purrfect Auto Service collected from me as well as all the other charges that came about as a result of their work.
