My experience, and independently the experience of my wife, with this one particular 'Division Manager' at Accountemps has been extraordinarily horrendous and we've been 'blacklisted' for basically calling him on his inability to find assignments that ever last as long as the 'so-called contract' says it will. For noticing that other staffing agents have found us work with no problems and only his contracts seem to fall short of the assigned time period, he basically said, if you don't like it, leave, there's a million other people like you out there to fit the job who won't complain about him, so basically he didn't care that he was lying to us and poorly setting up expectations between the client and the worker. As I've read of other complaints about Robert half there is a theme devloping that may in fact be company policy to treat the 'millions of temporary workers' fraudulently, lying in their 'so called contracts' to us, while turning us over to fill in jobs that only last for a few days, pretending it will last a long time, unconcerned with the temporary workers and the plans we try to make based on the money they've promised in their seemingly gratuitious contracts (which he refused to claim as such, despite having a digital signature, witness, compensation and an offer of employment for a given date from and to on it). The fact is they exploit the numbers game of people looking for jobs and pray off of people seeking greater experiences like a vulture. It's like those ticket companies who buy up all the Ticket Master tickets and try to resell them at a premium. That is essentially what these guys do, distorting the market price for office employment work and pay. They make up excuses, for instance after the first day on the job you didn't instantly know where every file was kept, which is of course absurd for any first day (or even second). This is where he referred to, as the claim goes, 'not being detailed oriented' which was a reason for temporary termination. If a boss or supervisor doesn't properly train or orient someone in a new office, and there expectations are for them to know where everything in the unique layout of the company is in the first week in a law office, then she's a bad manager or had the expectations set up incorrectly, as no temporary worker can promise such a thing. The nature of Robert Half, or hopefully just this Raffi Toughlouian creature seems to be to screw people over, and if they don't like it, tell them to leave and find their own job. How is this to talk to workers who are helping you earn a commission? How is this to build parternships? Doesn't he understand that future accountants are going to remember his awful attitude and not want to work with him or his company in the future as a result? Any manager or CEO worth his salt would fire this guy, if they cared at all about their professional reputation. And if you have a serious complaint about a Division Manager's rude, aggressive, hateful attitude, who literally laughed on the phone and said, after complaining about his inability to have his contracts run through, said 'the difference between me and you is, at the end of this conversation I'll still have a job. While you're fired." I have no idea what sort of 'professional service' or insecure person, such as Raffi Toughlouian was on the phone, how they get away with this. He said then, 'no matter where you go, whether its in Korea, Afghanistan or Australia, anywhere in the world you go, looking for work with Robert half, you will be turned away at the door'. This is after telling him that 'I'd rather work with some other staffing agent in Robert half and that if I called the client to find out what really happened, that I'd be breaking the contract (which he said earlier I didn't technically have as part of my temporary employment). He promised we could never talk to anyone else in the company or there would be legal consequences. When employees go on vacation which seems to have been the only times this bad employee and rotten human being, Raffi Toughlouian calls, I think, and I am speculating because I've never been told the truth a single moment in all my conversations with the guy (which were thankfully few). I think he just falsely promises workers long term contracts so that they'll take small, day or two long assignments. He tells the employer, to invent some lie about some minor thing they did wrong, like misfiling something the first day on the job (which is silly when you haven't been trained or oriented in the slightest). A totally bogus expectation. And this is the core of the problem. These so called Managers, specifically Raffi Toughlouian, is a rude, arrogant, jerk, with a serious Napoleon complex, who bullies the temp workers and throws his unjustified and unmonitored power around like Robert half is his own personal playground. "Robert half/Accountemps: There's always more where you came from" would be a more honest tagline for Robert Half the way Raffi Toughlouian operates. He is totally unprofessional and callous with the workers. God knows what sort of story he spins with the client companies (who must certainly be relying on the reputation of years gone by to get away with this, living in the glow of a well established company who's power has gone unmonitored and unchecked by any ethical practice or standard). If you think this is a complaint from just some upset worker, me and my wife are both accounting majors working towards our designations, (which is more education then this clown, Raffi certainly has) and overall he threatened us internationally. As blacklisting seems to be company practice for anyone that complains (i.e. sees the truth of how they operate and exploit their workers). He was rude and condescending to us when he's supposed to be helping workers. Frankly he's a liar, or at best a deceiver. He's never said a thing that ever happened the way he said it would. This is by any classification poor expectations management. The fact that he touts he's done this for 8 years is the miracle. Why some National CEO hasn't fired the guy is anyone's guess? The duality of this guy I am sure is what is on display here. My recommendation to anyone reading: If this person offers you a job, don't bother and if you are a client looking to hire someone to manage the expectations of a client, do yourself a favor and skip over this unprofessional dolt named Raffi Toughlouian, Division Manager 181 Bay Street.
