I would just like some clarity on rent a center. I signed a contract with rent a center in Nov. 2010. I paid for the first 5 days before I left the store even though I actually didn't take possesion of the items until 1 week later but I was told that they could not even schedule me for delivery without making a payment. The items were delivered 12/3 and received a call stating I had a payment due already on 12/4?? first of all the contract said my first payment wasn't due until 12/11??? So I made the initial payment anyways after finding out that the dates on the contract were wrong and was told that my next payment was due on 12/18. Well I made that payment and had one more due for the month of Dec. I thought I was only going to be paying twice a month on the furniture but was told that it coinsides with my pay periods so if I get paid 3 times a month the payment is due 3 times a month. Well the last check of December was short due to furloughs at my job and I asked if I could make a 1 week payment only then get it caught up on my next due date....I got told at that point that if I did not make the entire 2 week payment that my contract was in default and they would not work with me. I was told it was against store policy to do so (even though I had been told they do work with people at the time I signed the contract) and that the person I spoke with gave me mis-information. Now they are threatening to have me arrested if I do not give them back their stuff...they have called me repeatedly at work even after I have told them that I am not allowed to received personal calls at work. Is any of this legal??? I am in AZ....
