Robert Boone B&B Construction Did shoddy work that has to be torn out & re-done; took 3 times longer & then didn't finish job; rarely showed up when h

I contracted with Robert Boone to install the tiles in 2 bathroom showers & floors; install granite countertops; paint the ceilings in the living room, dining room, & master bedroom for $1,700. The job was to start on 6/18/12 and end on 6/26/12. After the project started, I had him paint the walls in the living room and dining room for an additional $225 and texture the wall in the master bathroom for $300 and install a kitchen faucet for $30. On July 2nd, Robert Boone had worked part of the day and asked me to pay him for the painting, then he said, “I’ll be back tomorrow to finish the job so just make the check for $650” ($225 + the final payment of $425). In good faith I paid him. He did not return until 7/9/12 & that was to texturize the master bathroom for which he demanded payment of $330 ($300 texturizing + $30 for kitchen faucet). For the next two weeks Robert Boone gave me various excuses why he couldn’t come back over to finish the project. He returned on 7/23/12 claiming he planned to finish the projects that day. I had to leave for a dr. appointment and he left shortly after that without finishing the job. Throughout the month of July until 8/6/12 Robert Boone gave me many various excuses why he couldn’t finish my job. On 8/6/12 he called me to say that he was allergic to my cats and wouldn’t complete the job. I went to his place of employment to get back my house key that he took without my permission. I told him that he needed to return my final payment of $425 and the $30 he charged me to put in a faucet that he never installed. He told me that he didn’t have the money & would pay it back in 30 days. He has never refunded the final payment. I told him that I figured he had another job and that he was looking for excuses not to complete my job since he’d been paid. On 8/13/12 after several texts between us, he returned $30. He has since refused to return my final payment. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau, which Robert Boone never responded to within the 45 days. Robert Boone clearly broke the contract by not finishing the job and not finishing the job on time. He was paid in full for a job he never did. The work was substandard, done wrong and now I have to pay someone else to tear out the tile and re-do the work because he did not do the grout correctly & water is seeping into the walls. I'm out over $6,000 to repair what he di to my 2 bathrooms.

Robert Boone did not complete the following: paint the ceiling in the master bedroom, remove & replace 2 tiles in the guest bathroom, replace 2 broken tiles in the master bathroom, caulk around the granite countertops in both bathrooms, seal the tiles in both bathroom floors & showers, remove silicone caulk on master shower doors in error, finish the trim around the tiles in both showers, repair the leaks or fix the screw that won’t line up in the master shower handle, install floor strip between tiles and carpet in master closet, install kitchen faucet, nor did the contractor clean up the paint splatters on the tile & wood floors or the texturizing over spray on the master bedroom furniture, floor & master bathroom fixtures & cabinets.

The contractor lost the seals to the new shower head. He installed the shower door incorrectly and I had to take it apart to fix it. The contractor or his subcontractor tripped the circuit breaker & did not tell me. My freezer in the garage was on that circuit & it wasn’t discovered for several weeks. I lost a freezer full of frozen food and it took several months to air out the freezer, of which there is still an odor. The travertine tiles in the showers and floors are not even. The travertine tiles on the floor have spaces & grout between them and according to an expert tile layer travertine tile is to be laid without spaces.

My guest bath tub has 2 large chips in it and the contractor tried to cover it up by putting silicone on it. There was a big glob of silicone in the drain of the tub that I had to dig out with a screwdriver in order to close the drain plug. He bent the hardware for my custom shower door in the guest bathroom and it can’t be re-used now. I have not found been able to find another one like it. It originally cost over $900. The hardiebacker board that he installed in the showers should have had the dry wall cut out and the hardiebacker board should have been flush with the wall. He just tacked it to the wall & put the tiles on top so it sticks out so far that I can’t put a bullnose border around it. Instead he too wood baseboards & partially put a few around the tiles. I told him many times that I wanted the tiles to go all the way to the ceiling. Robert promised he would but then he refused to do that. He tolld me he was going to put tiles in the base of my shower & instead he spray painted the base of the shower.

He did the same kind of things to me, but I would only pay him per job. Mr. Boone would try to insist you need other things done so you could pay him. He preys on single women. I tried to give the brother some business but I learned my lesson if you know what I mean.
