Arrived at the location around 1:45pm. This location was recommended by my mother who frequents the location driving her new BMW. I said that fact because I truly believe that I was ripped off simply because it was assumed "Mom and her money" would be paying for things done to my car. I drive a simple, 2000 Ford Taurus and anything mom pays for comes back to bite me in the butt so try not to go that route....ever! Anyway, I arrived at location and was told that my ck. engine light was on. I told Kenneths son that I knew this and there was a sensor on the car that was faulty. He told me it was an easy fix and just had to be turned off. I asked him how much and he said it would be done for free but I would have to drive the car around for a bit and come back because it would take a second for this to register on the computer. He also told me that I could instead pay the 120 to get my sticker which I later figured out was an "under the table" cost to "pass" the inspection. He told me if the light was not on, I would not have to pay that much. I told him I could not, would not pay $120. I knew the normal price was around $50 or less so I would surly NOT pay $120..that was far too much. My mom called the owner on the phone..Im guessing to make sure he knew who she was and the son came back to me and told me he would go ahead and do it. I asked him again..."how much"..he told me not to worry about it that his dad told him to just do it for me. He implied that the service would be free actually. He said..."he remembers your mother now and my dad told me to just do it". Without me knowing...mom had called him and told him to place it on her credit card, this is without knowing it was still $120 btw. Also, without me knowing, i really was being charged the full under the table $120! Sure it was going on moms card but i had to pay her back. The car is in my name and so are all the papers so why...after id asked him how much I had to pay, told him i was not going to pay $120 and then asked him again, would i EVER pay $120 for a sticker. I would pay the $40 they charged me last year but not $120! Just because he talked to my mother and she told him to do it...why not confirm with the person who owned the car? I am 32 years old Mr. Brown! When i confronted you all you did was tell me "talk to your mother". Brown then asked me for my mothers number because he did not want to talk to me about it...just mom. What kind of business is this! Your son tells me that he will turn off the sensor for me, then I can come back and get it inspected for the $40, which i would have gladly done and then I end up having to pay $120 because you said I "had no choice"?! I would have just had your son do this and come back, saving me $80. Instead, I have a bill in front of me that has the name A J Inspection off of Chimney Rock in a location that is not where I actually got the inspection from. The inspectors name is not the person who even looked at my car. Who the heck is Dylan Nguyen? He was def NOT working at the S. Post oAk location. This is terribly bad service. Communication was lacking and because of it, I have to pay. You implied there would be no cost...i would have happily paid the $40 and do not want something for nothing..i just want my $80 back! WHen I explained to your son that I would not have gotten the service done at all at that location, he then went on to state well there was other things wrong with the car and it would not have passed any way. Like what? That's not what you said BEFORE we started the inspection. You told me it was the light. In fact, you told me this about 3 times during the conversation. Why do you think i kept asking about the cost? I kept asking...what else needs to be done, is that the only thing wrong. Why would I ask your son all these questions if i was not concerned about the money or if Mom was the one who would eventually pay for this? Did i mention I was 32? Its doubtful that mom will be splitting the bill for a 32 yr old. Im very upset that I was talked to like a child when I asked you about the fairness in this. This by itself is bad customer service. If the car would not have passed the inspection, then so be it..I would have fixed the simple sensor and came back. No need for you to "talk to my mother" about anything. I could go into more about how the recpt does not match the location and how you went to another location to buy the sticker and then charged me $80 more but I wont. However, I think as a customer service, I should get the $80 back because of the lack of communication between you and I and the implied nature of the entire transaction. Your son did apologize, saying he "thought that you meant there would be no charge because you talked to my mother" but this was just not good enough. I never asked for free service. I just wanted to not be taken advantage of once again by a car location. I would have just come back and saved $80 the next day. Not sure what kind of con this is or if its just mis-communication but as the customer, I should not have been responsible for this error. It is my hope to rectifie this before more investigation is done on the situation and before its time for me to pay mom back. Nothing is free in life..even with family. Dont assume i have any extra to give just because mom might and never talk to a 32 year old women like she is 12..its just offensive.
