I just read an account from someone that gives an "extremely" accurate description of the abusive treatment of employees at the hand of Scottsdale Resort owner, Robert Hing. Robert Hing manages his property with an "iron fist" management style. Although he is an attorney, which, by the way, he will tell you repeatedly, he has absolutely no business sense. Over the years, Robert Hing has had the good fortune of hiring employees that were knowledgable in their respective areas, i.e. resort management,food and beverage,spa, group sales,membership, etc., and who obviously had not heard of Mr. Hing's abusive management style.These individuals strived to increase membership and sales in their respective areas in spite of the fact that the owner did not believe in paid advertising and maintained the property as cheaply as possible. The property was an extremely "hard sell". Most owners would be appreciative that they had employees willing to work so hard for them,yet the only feedback that Mr. Hing gave was to scream at individuals about how they were not doing enough, oh yes, and this he would do in front of their peers and sometimes even in front of guests. In addition Robert Hing thought nothing of stealing from his employees. He would work servers in his restaurant like dogs as he never wanted to pay for adequate staffing, then, he would keep the majority of their tips. This is just one example of his antics. Robert Hing has lost many,many,good people over the years because of his abusive behavior and he doesn't seem to care. Employees are not human beings to him, sadly,they are merely possessions for him to abuse. A word to the wise..DO NOT EVER WORK FOR THIS MAN!
