Screenclick.com Extorted, Ripped off, Gross miscommunication of important information Internet
4th of Sep, 2011 by User221885
In June of 2011, I Ordered a meal through the FeedMe.ie Service online. Along with my meal I was offered a 'Bonus' in the form of two 'free' DVD rentals through a web service called 'Screenclick.com': . Above is the website itself, however, the link provided actually leads you to THIS page: As can be seen from the page, all you can see initially is the 'Submit' box where you enter the code you receive along with your order to 'Receive your two free dvd rentals'. On initial view, the terms and conditions are not in view, nor are they indicated anywhere on the initial part of the page and given the simplistic view that is given to the consumer, it is very easy to simply enter the code and miss them altogether. Furthermore, in the tems and conditions provided, despite the fact that it lets you know that you will be charged, though badly displayed, it does NOT make you aware of how much you will be charged. As I found out only two weeks ago after I had lost €35. 98 in the form of two direct debit payments of €17.99. An outrageous fee for a DVD rental that I neither recieved nor applied for. You are led through a simple process, where you are not adequately made aware of the the cost you are paying, and then with no email, letter or receipt of any kind, you are grossly overcharged for a service that you may not even be using. I have been told that in return for this disgraceful injustice that I am entitled to Two months free DVD rentals, and that no refund will be given. HOWEVER, as a result of having to operate through a postal service to avail of this, I am therefore not willing to do so. On top of this, I have been forced to cancel my account and avail of nothing as a result of another charge of €17.99 to be withdrawn from my account in four days time. I am now left in a position where I have been ripped off by €35.98 and have received nothing in return. It is evident that these people have no problem with taking their consumers money without thought even if it is evident that the consumer's account is inactive. Furthermore, given the current economic state of our country and the hardship that we all endure, to continue to sap such an outrageous amount of money out of people's pockets while giving them nothing, is revolting, and is nothing short of daylight robbery. It is a clear portrayal of gross mistreatment and negligence to the consumer. I urge everyone to avoid this site entirely, DO NOT enter any details. It is a scam and they are utterly ignorant towards consumer rights.
