Gift Card Scam & Exorbitant Shipping Rates

I received what I THOUGHT was a gift card from Shoptiques.com. However, when I went out onto their site, they directed me to a special area to redeem the card. So what's the problem? I decided I didn't want to pay their exorbitant shipping charges and decided not to order. Most NORMAL REPUTABLE companies don't apply the gift card amount until you check out. Shoptiques automatically gave me a credit on my account. So now, I've lost the $25 gift card on a site I will never buy anything from. And I can't pass it on to a friend. What sort of scam is that???

And now a word about their shipping charges. I wanted to order a small pair of earrings and a bracelet. The estimated UPS ground shipping charge came up as $6.80. But the minute I clicked to review my order before final checkout, the shipping charge skyrocketed to $12.43. It's not like global shipping is involved. Shoptiques is in Kentucky and I am in New York. They are totally raping customers with their jacked up shipping charges.

My only words of advice: Steer clear of this place. I predict they won't be around too long.

Here's an interesting addendum to my complaint. When doing a reverse lookup on the phone number Shoptiques shows on their website, I discovered it was in NYC and not in Kentucky. And the number belongs to an individual, not a company. Please beware before buying ANYTHING from Shoptiques.com!!
