Song Placements Hitt Music Tried to make a Fraudulent Charge on my Credit Card Internet

Over a year and half ago, I was targeted by an agent at Hitt Music saying they could help me shop my songs to television ads, movies, and other media. After giving it some thought, I signed up with them for a year. It cost me 400.00. I used a credit card. Shortly after I signed up with Hitt Music, they changed hands and took up the entity, Song Placements. I had even gotten a phone call from A&R while I was utilizing Songplacements which told me the story about the departure and problems stemming from Hitt Music and Songplacements. Each week I would get a progress report from Songplacements. I got to set up a personal page with my songs. I liked that when someone was looking for songs, they'd be able to hear it instantly. The reports were fairly detailed. I called a couple times suggesting other songs to submit than the ones they were submitting to mainly "film". Most of the music was sent to very low budget productions and I never got any takers. In fact, I don't believe anyone even visited by post. So after my year was up, I sent them a letter in writing and an e-mail canceling services and not to renew. They sent me a thoughtful note, but removed me. I haven't heard about them until last Saturday. When I tried to use my credit card to pay for lunch, it was denied. I thought that this was odd since I rarely use a credit card. So I called my credit card company and asked them what was going on. They said that towards the end of February (I believe they said the 24th), someone from Songplacements tried to charge my card 200.00 and they put a Fraud Alert on my card and stopped payment. Songplacements had one of the tracking numbers wrong and my credit card company caught it. It has been 8 months since I cancelled my account with Songplacements. I was shocked. I was issued a different card with a different number. However, this was so alarming to me, that I feel it neccessary to inform others of potential fraud and theft. I was lucky to escape this. It is unnerving to think others have had similar issues. I am a musician with little means to re-coup from a potential financial disaster. I hope that people will pay attention to their statements. Like others, I will never ask or hire help for submitting work. I can do that on my own and save a lot of money. So beware out there. I would be interested to know if there are others with similar stories. I found a few on-line already, but I'm certain there are many more. Thanks.
