StaffPor Stole My Personal Info To Defraud IRS Out Of (WOTC) tax credit Orlando, Florida
1st of Mar, 2013 by User799897
I saw an ad on Craigslist on November 16, 2012 and applied for the licensed security guard paostion. I received an email back that evening from Maggie Perry stating that my application had been received and to contact her about setting up an interview. The week of Thanksgiving I spoke to Ms. Perry and we arranged an interview for the following Saturday. I went to their office and had to wait outside. Ms. Perry walked from her car past me without the slightest acknowlegement of my presence (which should have been a sign to leave). I waited and she came down to get me, we had the interview. She said that I was hired, gave me a Staffpro employee id card (generic) and instructed me to go onto their website to complete forms and video orientations. I started that process the next week, got most of the forms and videos done but got stuck on a one minute video that Ms. Perry said was not showing that I completed. That went on for three more days with phone calls to Ms Perry asking for her help since I had completed the video and had printed out the slides it contained. When I finally got past that stall tactic, I emailed my work availablility and called as well. I was informed by a Ms Harvey that there was no work until January 2013. The date was then November 28, 2012. I asked her why they were taking applications in mid November, and interviewing people on Saturdays if there was no work. Ms Harvey then told me not to wait until the beginning of the year to call back. I emailed Ms Perry to inform her that I'd be looking for work elsewhere since I couldn't afford to wait around a month to start working. I already had another experience with another security company collecting my personal information, saying that I was hired but never giving me any work so I added that to my email to Ms Perry and told her not to try to collect a tax credit for hiring me since she really didn't. At the end on January I received a W-2 from Staffpro stating that I made $5.75 with them for 2012. I never worked a day for them, and $5.75 isn't even a full hour of pay. I filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General for Florida. I want everyone to be aware of this scam that has been going on for some time. There was talk of businesses making money by just taking applications when I still lived in Tampa, Fl. If you or anyone you know received a W-2 from a company that you or they never worked for, your information has probably been stolen to defraud the IRS out of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) Depending on your race, gender, income, or veteran status, these companies could collect up to $9600.00 for "hiring" you.
