Storage Direct Strorage direct self storage Robbed my storage unit las vegas, Nevada

We rented a unit on 2/7/2011 and moved here from California. We returned to the unit on 2/9/2011everything was fine.We came back on Sunday2/13/2011 and the locks on our unit had been changed. We called the manager wouldn't answer we emailed and left several messages. On Monday,Feb 14,2011 my husband went to the facility early and the manager had to break off the lock that was placed on our unit he said he didn't do it. My husband immediately noticed our TV, printer,my daughters electric scooter and other large items were missing. He called me and informed me that we'd been robbed. The manager then told my husband at that time he had a storage auction going on and he did notihng to assist my husband.He left an went to do the auction my husband began to empty our unit and take thing to our new apartment. I called and they told me that the manager left for the day. The next day my husband went back to finish clearing the unit. He'd already called the police himself. The manager never offered to help him. The manager told my husband that he tried to help him and my husband said how. But he never did.We did not get the insurance for our unit because our things were only suppose to be there 3-4 days at the most while we waited for our apartment.We were never told that his facility has issues with being robbed or broken into. While removing what was left of our belongings my husband met a customer the manager was showing around for him to possibly rent a unit. The man told my husband that Public storage had been robbed and they told him about it before he rented the unit So he came down the street to Storage Direct. My husband told him what happened to our things and I wonder why the storage Direct manger isn't looking out for his customers the way Public storage is. Out of 600 units why was our unit robbed?We are in the inside and up stairs. Only people that new that were the manager and people that work there.How is is possible that out of 599 other units they picked the unit that was newly rented? The manager has a step daughter my daughters age Whom ever robbed my storage unit stole all my daughter shoes and my sons video games ,hats and things that can never be replaced from their great grand mother and grandmother whom passed away 3 years ago. They didn't only take things from us they took memories.Christmas 2010 was the first Christmas since 2007 that my kids have even wanted to celebrate. They lost their great grandmother Xmas day 2007 and they haven't cared about it since. This year they have a little one year old brother whom they wanted to have a tree and the full Xmas experience and these butt holes took all that away and then some.So thanks for making my kids HATE Christmas again and hate that they even tried to enjoy life. They never even apologized for not telling us about them having break ins or robbed.We have meet several people that have had the same thing happen at the same place and they say the same thing I've been feeling "INSIDE JOB". To Las Vegas, NV. I really feel bad for you, and the same thing happened to me. I live in Calif. and after going thru a horrible divorce, and having to sell my home, I had to store my whole entire household in storage. That included all furniture, kitchen, bath, some antiques, a huge Barbie collection, in time was going to my daughter, new mountain bike, practically everything was only 3 yrs. old, except for the antiques. My 2 grown childrens baby books, photo albums full of my children and family, cherished memories were taken. I got the run around from the live on site manager and his wife, and he was of no help what-so-ever. I called the police, they said they couldn't do anything. Within 2 months, these people moved out, and the Hayward facility was bought out from another company. The new facility was completely re-vamped with huge surveliance cameras, bigger iron security gates, cameras over all inside storage doors, and hallways and entrance locations. I called my insurance guy, and he told me that there seems to be an ongoing problem like this at storage places. This happened about 6 yrs. ago, and I still have nightmares and night sweats because of everything I lost, that I'll never be able to replace. Sorry for all of you that has gone thru such an experience. Be careful everyone!!
