STU has bounced checks for several years now. I have worked with them periodically since 2003 and never had a problem but have been hearing of bounced checks and non-payment for work since October 2010.
The last two weeks, i have not received a paycheck and the one before bounced. I have spoken to two different employees and heard conflicting stories- changing names, changing data companies, changing banks. Lindsey told me that they decided against the name change and they are justing changing data companies. The checks are at the office but they are "waiting for a wire" to come through to assure everything is working. It's been 12 days since I first heard that, two days later my first check bounced. Jim told me two of the three. i've spoken to other subs in the Phoenix area and they also have not received checks and were told that there was no money to pay us. One sub was at a charter school that also employs from sTU and she asked the office if they were using Subs Unlimited and was told yes, one sub there was sent from them. The office person also told her she was apprised of a name change,some initials. JMG, LLC was the name I was told last week. If you google the business name you will find complaints from employees in Tucson, Chicago and LA too. They go back to 2007 , bounced checks, missing days of pay or no check. The company has contracts to provide subs in 4 or 5 states other than MI. The website no longer works and when you call the toll free job lines , you often get a recording and they don't return calls. I was given an email address which was fake. Today I got one that seems to work for payroll. I called the non toll-free number today and asked for payroll and got Drake Gates voicemail and he didn't return my call.
