| In January of 2010 I had $560 of fuel oil delivered to my home which was 150 gallons. Money was tight in my home so the full amount was not paid, my account went delinquen on Feb 18th 2010....on that same day Suburban Propane made a delivery of 227 gallons of fuel oil which amounted to $843 which then brought my grand total up to around $1,500. When I saw the invoice at my door I was floored because I knew m y account was delinquent that very day. To make things worse I also received, in the mail, a letter stating that my account had gone delinquent on Feb 18th, I received this letter on the day it went delinquent AND I received a delivery of oil on the day the account went delinquent....following me so far? I called Suburban Propane up on the phone & spoke to various different people over the course of several days, I heard everything from I authorized the delivery to other excuses. We were on an automatic delivery with them which they said was "based on useage", however when I flat out asked a woman on the phone named "Nancy" if oil would be delivered to an account that was delinquent she flat out said "no", this is where it gets interesting. I asked how they could deliver more oil to a delinquent account & she then said she would look into it & get back to me. A few weeks went by & Nancy didn't call back. I had her personal number that went straight to her phone so I called & got voicemail & lef a message asking if she had found out anything. More weeks went by & Nancy never called. Over the course of a few months I left various messages for Nancy & no one ever called me back. I knew of the class action lawsuit going on with them pertaining to price gouging so I sat back & laid low for a bit, in this time they never delivered any more oil because I told them to stop all deliveried which they would anyway since I was now majorly delinquent. I had also spoken to someone in collections named "Michael" who wasn't helpful whatsoever by Nancy was the one who was supposed to get back to me. Fast forward to November 14th 2011 & I receive a letter in the mail from a collection agency stating I owe Suburban Propane $1,500. I called just to touch base w/ the collection agency who of course was rude as they usually are & said they were going to call Suburbann to verify my "story". I then called Suburban & got someone in collections who listened to the whole story & claimed they had sent me over 14 letters & phone calls late last yr to get in touch w me which is a LIE because I never got any correspondance from them after I spoke with Nancy. They also said that "Michael" from collections stated my husband told them on the phone that he refused to pay & didn't care if it went to collections which is an even bigger lie since they ONLY dealt with me & spoke w/ me the entire year of 2010, my husband never spoke with them. I was told they would get in touch with Nancy & have her call me the next day. This "Nancy" is supposed to phone me tomorrow so we shall see what happens but I am seriously considering a lawyer at this point. Suburban Propane delivered oil to my tank that they should not have delivered & it seems to me they filled my tank up when they shouldn't have. I am not disputing the $560 that I originally owed but I am disputing the over $800 worth of fuel I wrongly received. I didn't even know they were showing up & figured they wouldn't because my account was delinquent & they actually sent this to collections & they're trying to argue this delivery. I was also overcharged $3.69/gallon for oil. If I can actually find a lawyer that I don't have to pay upfront I will get one asap, money is tight & I cannot afford to pay a lawyer upfront but I will be looking for one tomorrow. Because of all this mess we also went without heating oil for a month earlier this yr in the dead of Winter & I have a child here. Suburban Propane are a bunch of scam artists, stay away from these people. |
