Recently, I was invited to interview for an agent position at Healthplan Headquarters. The first person who interviewed me was very kind and indicated to me that I posed a professionalism that was not commonly found when people come to interview. She invited me to meet with Susanne Thompson who is the owner and CEO of the company. Finally, I arrived to meet with Susanne Thompson for the interview and told that its a growing company and that there would be several opportunities available. It sounded very promising and I of course looked forward to finding out more about the company and hoping to be given an opportunity to work there. Though she invited me to contact her again in a few days to discuss the opportunity, she never returned my calls; and whenever I called for her, I was told that she was in a meeting. I believe I was discriminated against because I am Afro-American. My experience and credentials match the same credentials as the other employees there who are all white employees. Since, its inception in December of 2010....not one Afro American has been hired to work there. Goes to show that no matter how many degrees some possess and how many of years dressing up and working as a "professional"...some are still very primitive in their actions and beliefs about other races and ethnic groups.
