Consumer reviews and reports on scam companies, bad products and services
TeleBrands / Comfy Control Harness
Shady business procedures.

I was interested in a dog harness I saw advertised. I wanted more information so I found them online. If you go to https://www.comfydogharness.com/ and try to check pricing for this product, you can't. If you want to see the difference in pricing for different sizes, you can't. You have to input all your information, including credit card number, to proceed. It's a one page site with little and very confusing information about the cost.

I assumed I would purchase it so I was ok with inputting my information. I also assumed I would be able to review my order before finalizing it. When I realized that before seeing a grand total or how much each item is, the order had been placed, I immediately called and tried to cancel the order I inadvertently placed. The customer service I encountered was a hassle to say the least. I was told I had to wait 24 to 48 hours to "request" a cancellation number that may not be guaranteed. I asked what that meant and was told they don't guarantee they'll cancel or refund an order. After then searching them out online and seeing tons of similar stories with bad outcomes, like refunds not given after three months, I called my bank and cancelled the card I used so I would not be charged.

This seems like a scam. First, being so secretive and confusing about pricing and what exactly you get for your money. Second, not showing a grand total before "confirming" or "submitting" an online order should be illegal. That's just my opinion though. Lastly, offering FREE items they charge for. I called my local police department to see if there was anything I could do legally but it seems they've covered themselves in the fine print which is just as confusing.

It reads, "No matter what size you order, S&H is just $6.99 and we'll double the value and send you a second Comfy Control Harness in the same size and a matching 5 foot leash for just an additional $4.99 processing and handling."

Sounds like you pay for the product, $10.99, with 6.99 shipping. If you want, you then pay 4.99 and you'll get a second harness for free. With the 4.99 upgrade I chose this adds up to $27.96. I had to assume, because it was not clear, that the second harness was also upgraded so I added another 4.99 totaling $32.95.

When the "order confirmation" page loaded, it showed the order and pricing totaling $58.63! There was no confusion when they said, "for ordering, we'll give you a 5' leash and dog toy FOR FREE" but on the order confirmation page each one of those items was priced at $4.99. For two harnesses that's 4.99 x 4! The line item even reads "FREE Bonus" with $4.99 next to it, totaling $9.98!

Like I said, I searched about this company after this happened to find numerous complaints, 1400+ through the BBB alone, about their procedures. Now I know, I should have done that first. Lesson learned. I cannot believe they are allowed to do business this way. Clearly, they are taking advantage. Strangely, with over 1400 complaints through the BBB, they have an A- rating. ? They should, like a legitimate business, be as up front and transparent as possible instead of tricking people into spending $60.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM TELEBRANDS!!!

This is the shadiest company I have ever seen. They say $19.99 for a My Zone Phone Headset, then say you will get a second for free. What they don't tell you is they charge $6.99 shipping on the first headset, then an additional $4.99 "Surprise" bonus and an additional $10.00 for non-continental shipping (Canada).

Then they charge 'taxes', which I'm not sure they should be doing considering we pay a border tax once the item gets into Canada. With freetrade between Canada and the U.S. we should be only paying 1 tax, not both.

In the end $19.99 comes out to $47.43!

I called immediately to cancel, they said they put one through but it was not guaranteed so call back in a few days or check my Visa statement. Of course I called back and they said the cancellation was processed which it wasn't. My credit card company told me it doesn't take 3 weeks to process a charge back. So they shipped me the headphones anyhow and never lifted the charge.

I called again today and they said it would take an additional 7-10 business days to process the cancellation. This time I recorded the call and will keep it on file for Visa. What a SHADY SHADY business.

DO NOT ORDER from TELEBRANDS
