To a future tenant or homeowner considering working with the Golba Group, I thought after the experience that I had with this company that it was my responsibility to inform anyone out there who might be considering working with this company of their professionalism and to be down right blunt thievery that that practice! I have read other reports that people have left regarding how unprofessional this company's workers are and they are all extremely accurate! My boyfriend and I had been searching for nearly two months for a house that we could start a family in when our lease ended this month in February. About two weeks ago we visited a property that we fell in love with due to the price, and the size of the home which was a little over 1,800 sq. ft. For the price it was listed at ($995), we thought that this would be fantastic considering the fact that we both are college students and would be using loan money and government aid to pay for our living expenses while attending our colleges. When we first applied to the house we were told by a worker named, "Valesha," that due to the fact that my boyfriend is a citizen of another country and doesn't have ANY credit with the U.S. credit agencies that our approval would be dependent on my credit. This was perfectly fine with us, as I have never had any issues with my credit. They SUPPOSEDLY ran a credit check on me with each of the three credit report companies and found nothing. This of course was a lie, as i do have credit and offered to print off a personal report of my credit for her, and she declined! She then explains to us that in order for us to be accepted to the property that we would need co-signers. Okay, no problem. I have a wonderful relationship with my Grandparents as they have raised me most of my life. My Grandfather ran the department of credit card fraud at First National Bank of Omaha and totaled over 25 years with the bank- My Grandparents credit is thus extremely good! (How ironic) After my grandparents submitted their "co-signer application," we were officially accepted for the home. If only it were that easy. We were under the impression that we were going to have to pay a deposit of $995 and the first months rent of $995 plus a fee of $20 because we have a cat. When we arrived to meet Valesha face to face for the first time in order to pay our deposit we were then told that they also required us to pay the last months rent- also $995. I say, "they," because a property manager shows up in the office and didn't introduce herself, nor did we ever get her name also sat down to, "talk." This lady, was by far the rudest, most unprofessional, bitch I have ever met. She looked us in our faces and said, "because neither one of you have a job I think the home owner is out of her mind accepting your application and if it were up to me I wouldn't have accepted it at all." My boyfriend, who was raised in a strict Arabic home, explained to her that he was extremely offended by her comment and that our finances were stable. He explained to her that he is in America due to scholarships and that his Government sends money directly to his bank account specifically for living expenses such as rent! She slyly disregarded his comment and turned to me and said, "Still, neither of you have a job." I then felt as if it was my turn to explain my financial situation. I explained to her that I was also offended by her comment and that I felt she was treated us like criminals because neither one of us currently is working. I backed my boyfriend up, and pointed out the fact we had given them documents proving his finances and the stability of his, "income." I then explained that I had taken out a private loan with Wells Fargo for well over the amount of money that would be required of my half of the rent for the 12 month period of time for rent, and I even offered to show them proof that this loan had already been accepted and that it would be placed in my account within 30 days. I also took it upon myself to explain to this, "property manager," that my Grandparents had co-signed for the house, and that even if (hypothetically speaking) we COULDN'T make the rent that my Grandparents would be able to do so! She stated that she didn't want us to feel like she was criticizing us, and my boyfriend bluntly told her that even though she wasn't trying to, that she was. When the property manager and Valesha explained to us that we needed to pay the last months rent as well, we were taken aback but we agreed to do so. My boyfriend and I currently are waiting on loans that will be arriving before the end of the month, and we only have enough money to afford the deposit and first months rent until about a week. I explained the them that we could prove that there was money coming in and asked if we could pay the charge for the last months rent within 30 days of moving in when we also pay for our second months rent. Valesha attempted to call the home owner who did not answer and she was not sure if this was something that the homeowner would agree with (EVEN IF WE PROVED WITH DOCUMENTS THIS MONEY WAS COMING IN AND WHEN). This first meeting happened late on a Friday, and we told them we would call back on Monday morning to see if the homeowner was alright with allowing us a 30 day grace period to pay last months rent. I called yesterday, Monday morning, and wasn't surprised to hear that the homeowner did not mind us paying the last months rent with or before the second months rent. Valesha told me she was busy, and that it would be best if I came in tomorrow to give her the cashiers check so that we could be moving in as early as Wednesday! At this point I am very thrilled and believe that all is well! Dream come true! Right? Tuesday, is today. My boyfriend and I make a trip to the bank to form a cashiers check with our joint money. I call, "THE GOLBA GROUP," to ask how they wanted the check made out, and to let them know to tell Valesha that we will arrive within ten minutes with the deposit money. To my surprise Valesha is not working today, nor was she even scheduled. The receptionist explains that the property manager is working and that we can give the check to her. We arrive no later than 10 minutes after calling them at their office to find out that the property manager has left for Gold Canyon and will not be back until tomorrow. The receptionist says, "There were complications with your application, you and been re-declined." I was extremely confused, and began asking questions, "Why is our application now being denied?" The receptionist claimed she had no idea why it was declined. I said, "So your telling me that the property manager left minutes before we arrive knowing full well we were on our way?" I said, "She didn't have the audacity to wait 10 minutes for us to arrive to explain to us what the hell is going on? She knew we were coming!" I know for a fact that there was nothing on our application that was false. I filled out the application with my boyfriend, retrieved all legal documentation that was certified, took the application to my Grandparents house were they checked it to make sure that everything was accurate, and even provided information that they said they did not need, but I felt was needed to prove that we are responsible, and good people. I included documents for our cat, proving he is neutered, and has his shots, I provided banking histories, government loan acceptances, and even had co-signers- One of which who was HEAD OF THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT AT FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF OMAHA! This is preposterous! I feel bad for the homeowner of the house because my boyfriend and I truly did love the home, and were extremely excited about starting our family together and because of this company and their complete disregard of us, we are unable to move in now, and are thus forced to extend the lease on our apartment to find another home. I want to make it very clear to not only tenants but to homeowners who wish to lease their homes with the aid of this company is nothing but a group of thieves! I have read EVERY REPORT, EVER REBUTTAL, and it is very clear that these people have had a history of professionalism, disrespectful behavior, and down right shady business habits. My boyfriend and I suspect that they have declined our application unjustly due to the fact that he is Arabic, and have also discriminated against me for reasons I do not wish to share with the entire world with this post. We have a friend of the family who is a Real Estate agent who has been notified of this company and what has happened and several of our friends are under the impression that what they are doing is down right Illegal. If we have any grounds to sue them for discrimination or unlawful acts we will do so. They had NO RIGHT to re-decline our application. -Samantha Mesa, Arizona
