I booked a cruise 5/18/11 on line with Travelocity/Royal Caribbean I was never asked about insurance over the phone..I was sent information to my email from Travelocity which I printed & read..I have never traveled out of this country and was not awhare of birth certificate differences...the information I printed from Travelocity stated an example of documents as: a birth certificate & drivers license..I also made a call to make sure & was told the same thing...so when my partner & I arrived at the Royal Caribbean check-in on 6/27/11 we were escorted to a Royal Caribbean supervisor and was told my birth certificate was not valid and can not board with this birth certificate...I had an original/ not a copy hospital birth certificate which had the raised seal and was the only birth certificate I had know and used since It was given to me by my decesed parents..Travelocity had not explained in there paperwork or over the phone the differences in birth certificates..I was dumb to the fact that there is a difference, but the paper work just said a birth certificate, nothing was said or stated about a state issue birth certificate..had I been told the difference or read the difference in the paperwork I would have gotten the state issued birth certificate needed...Now I am charged for this cruise and was told by both Travelocity / Royal Caribbean there is nothing they can do about this matter and offered no kind of solution..so i'm stuck paying for a cruise for two which we never went on and both Travelocity/Royal Caribbean will take any action to help ...Well this being my first time cruise out of this country and the first time I used Travelocity/Royal Caribbean...Has left a VERY< VERY bad taste in my mouth.
