United Quality Publications, Inc. fraudulent magazine subscriptions never to be seen! Pensacola, Florida
5th of May, 2011 by User277896
Like all of the reports on here involving United Quality Publications that I've read, I *supposedly* subscribed to magazines and 6 months later have yet to see a single issue! I would say that is very poor quality control! I don't usually spend money with solicitors, but this one apparently caught me in the right mood. I was working and it happened to be a quiet day. A very friendly gentleman, Rustin G., came in telling me all about how he was trying to earn points to go on a trip by selling magazine subscriptions. I initially told him that my business didn't accept solicitors, but I hoped he had a nice day. He continued to chat with me, telling me how wonderful it was that I was at least polite to him and about the woes of soliciting. He went on to explain how the last woman he spoke with was incredibly rude and was verbalizing how he should just die. I guess I'm a sucker... After listening to him chat for quite a while--since apparently he had no intention of leaving--I realized that it was drawing close to Christmas, and I needed gifts for some family members. So finally I caved. I ended up deciding on a subscription of Popular Science for my fiance and myself and National Geographic for Kids for my nieces. Both magazine subscriptions happened to be in the highest price range (and highest "point" value). My grand total came to $98... *sigh*... never to be seen again. When I started to pay, I had that tiny gut feeling, but quickly ignored it... big mistake, of course. I started to write a check, since those are definitely easier to track and I don't generally have much cash on hand. He quickly asked if I could pay with all cash since he would get more points. I explained that I only had $25 in cash. After him trying to convince me to take cash from my register (should have been another sign), we came to a compromise that I would pay $25 in cash and the rest by check. He wrote me a detailed receipt and went on his way. A month later, Christmas finally arrived, but my magazines had not. I started to wonder, but saw on the receipt that 120 to 160 days should be allowed for delivery... so I bought other gifts and waited some more. Now, more than 6 months later, I've tried calling the company to no avail (apparently the number has been changed?) and have no other recourse. And looking back at that detailed receipt, I grow even more weary of the other information I gave. I'm just screwed... Thanks, Rustin G.!

My daughter, who is disabled, managed to scrape up enough money to buy Zoo Books for her 7 year old child for Christmas. She asked me to follow up since she had not heard anything. I called the number to United Quality Publication, Inc. only to find that it had been changed and no new number listed. Greg Elmore was her salesman. As usual, people like this make it hard to trust anyone who comes to your door!
