| I received an estimate via an email following a telephone quote of $828.00 from Universe Express movers. After getting several quotes I decided on Universe Exp. because of their quoting me a 14 day waiting period and if I needed additional time before delivery it would include an additional 30 days of FREE storage. The day of the move my estimate quickly increased from $828 to $1476 shortly after the arrival of the movers. I agreed to the increase with reassurance from the movers supervisor that I would have the 44 days(14 days plus bonus free 30 day storage) if needed before delivery. Just 10 days after pickup from New Jersey I was called by a "driver" not an employee of Universe Express but a sub contractor stating he was in Ocala 3 hours away from my house to deliver my personal items. On my receipts and contracts there was no date given nor appointment made and it had ONLY been 10 days after my pickup. I then informed the driver that I had not signed for a date for delivery after looking carefully at the paperwork he verified that I was correct and that he did not have any signature. He then stated that Universe Express would have to pay them for storing my belongings in their Miami storage facility as they sent this move with them without authorzation from me. Since my contract states the 30 day free storage I should not be charged any additional fees for this storage but they refuse to honor the contract. This very day I spoke to Universe Express' operations manager Etyan Shaya (whom I recently found out is also the companies CEO) stated coldly to me "my customers are happy to receive their belongings before the time scheduled and that I should call up people I know and borrow the $908.00 balance and just figure it out if I did not want any additional charges." Its has been several weeks since then and my many attempts at getting information on where my belongings are go unresponded. I finally I left a message for the original driver and received a call back from the operations manager (who is not a Universe Express employees) who is from the would-be Miami storage facility who is storing my belongings informed me of the additional fees which are and additional $700 in addition to my balance of $908. To date I still have no company name where my belongings are being stored and it has been a hardship for both my 10yr old son and I sleep because we have had sleep on the floor and be without very important medications needed to assist us in maintaining our health issues due to their irresponsible business practices with no fee redelivery. There should be NO additional charges as it was their mistake in sending the delivery without my signature or an appointment set. I am also without my vital records which prevent me from seeking employment and to make matters worse I have been informed that I will need to show proof of birth if my son at school if he is to continue attending. The anguish is causing my son to seek assistance from the school's support team as he often cries and is upset because we lost all of our things. I have left several messages for Eytan Shaya in regards to rectify this situation but keep being passed off to the Miami storage facility who states he has nothing to do with it unless I cough up the additional fees "only in cash" and no one can give me in writing what they are and he lastly states that I have a contract with Universe Express and that it is not his responsibility to provide me with any paperwork. |
