US Auto Protection, do not believe a word this title describes. These people sold a bumper to bumper warranty for my f250. As others, they informed me that I only had this chance to purchase the warranty during this conversation and the offer would not carry over once we hung up.
I did not buy, but instead contacted our local Ford Dealer and the service manager wrote down an itemized list of items that normally go out on the type of vehicle I own. I then called them back and spoke with a Protection Specialist Steve Darlin and I explained to him an earlier conversation I had with another of their specialist. Darlin stated that you could not honor any of the previous offers, but that he would do his best in helping me.
He then read a list as of what the warranty covered and quoted me a price. I immediately told him I could not afford his offer at that price. After a few other alternative offers , he placed me on hold and wanted to see what type of offers his superiors would make me.
After a short period, he came back and gave me a better deal saying his superiors would drop the dedutible if I was a veteran. Earlier, he had asked my age and that I sounded lke someone who was a Marine. I told him no, that I had been in the Navy.
The deductible dropped from $100.00 to $50.00. This all sounded so good, but I still had not asked him about the list of items the dealer had given me to see if they were covered. I then lowered the boom on him with my list. He asked me to repeat each item as he was writing them down and would check if he could get them approved. Wow, he placed me on hold and this time it took a little longer, but he came back and said he had wonderful news for me and all the items were covered for the exception of one. If the majority of items were covered, according to the dealer's service department manager, by God buy it, so I did.
Not being mechanically incline, The contract was sent to me and I was given the 30 day option to read, but even if I had read it, I would have not been able to understand their mechanical wording and being blind in one eye, the print was so small for me to read.
Several months had gone by, a fuel sensor went out and the estimated repair were around $600.00. Upon the dealer contacting US Auto Protection, this item was not covered.
I immediately contacted them and they stated that I should have read my contract and it does state that sensors were not covered. I checked the list I had given to Darlin, and by George, it was listed as one of the itmes I was quoated over the phone to be covered. I explained to person I spoke to about the promise I was made and her answer was "You should have read your Contract" I told her that her sales person had lied to me and taken advantage of me. I informed her I had been scammed by them. She gave me the story that she felt for me and she was going to speak to her supervisor. I was placed on hold and after a few minutes she came back and had been authorized by her surperior to wave the next payment.
After investing so much money into the scam, I went ahead and accepted the offer. A few month later, I took my vehicle back to the dealer for front end repairs that added up to $1,200.00. Again, repairs were denied by the Warranty Protection as not being covered. The list was checked and guess what, front end suspention was on it. The service mamager turned to me and said "Art, you've been scam". Again, I called them and again I should have read the contract. They offered to wave another payment, but enough is enough I came to the conclusion that I had been taken advantage because of my disability by a well trained scam artist.
Now watch, their rebuttal will say "You should have read the Contract".
