First, corporate Verizon Wireless encourages their ‘Premium Retailers’ to look just like a corporate Verizon Wireless store as announced on websites providing information to prospective retailers. Now that I know what a ‘premium retailer’ is, I see the company name in a font 1/32 the size of the well known Verizon Wireless logo and the company name is posted only outside the store. The business card has the Verizon wireless log large and horizontal on the card with the Tower Wireless name at 90 degree angle and the name is visually broken up. THIS IS A PURPOSEFUL FRAUD AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICE. This deserves the attention of state regulatory agencies and/or lawyers interested in class action lawsuit. Second, Bryan Riggs at Tower Wireless, a so-called, Verizon wireless premium retailer, should have been honest and say that he could not diagnose my phone problem as he had no way to bypass my phone battery power source. Instead, he misled me into thinking I needed a new phone. The 'story':
On June 14, 2011 I was at the Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, IL when I noticed that my fully charged Droid (original model) phone with Verizon Wireless service could not be turned on. I looked up and saw a large, Verizon Wireless logo banner draped over a store front. I went inside (and saw only large Verizon Wireless logo signage on two walls) and thinking I was in a Verizon Wireless store I expected honest, reliable service. Bryan Riggs, store manager, hooked up my phone to a power source and declared that my ‘screen was shot’. Therefore, I surmised that I needed a new phone and proceeded to make a replacement purchase, a Droid 2 Global. The next week, I walked into my local Verizon Wireless 'premium retailer' thinking they could resolve an overcharge as I didn’t get a discount I deserved, and was told that they are not related to that store and could not access the invoice and had completely different prices. Having my old phone in hand, the manager at the Highland Park, Cellular Connection (I NOW know is also NOT a Verizon Wireless Corporate Store), put the battery in and discovered it was working just fine. I had already sent in my UPS symbol for the rebate, so I felt I could not return the phone and just decided to just 'eat' my loss and go with the upgrade. Returning to the Tower Wireless, LTD store in Skokie, I discovered that Bryan Riggs had not used a special device to bypass my phone battery and in fact wouldn’t have even had a new battery to check if the battery was the issue. Thus, Bryan Rigg’s diagnosis ‘screen was shot’ was fraudulent as did not have the technology to bypass the phone battery. To add insult I discovered that the phone I purchased was an ‘outdated phone’ three weeks after I unnecessarily purchased it. In late August, Bryan Riggs, returned from vacation and I told him the situation thinking that at least he could replace my phone with the newer model, Droid 3. However, he said that “I did you a favor by getting you a working phone to replace your ‘dead’ phone.†|
