After receiving multiple bids for having EIFS, faux stone and brick applied to my home, I chose Victor Montes, M&M Plastering, because he was the only one who advertised that he was "licensed, insured and bonded" in the yellow pages. In the end, I learned that he was not licensed (he is certified), nor is he insured and bonded. I filed a complaint andcorresponded through the BBB but did not get any satisfaction.
Prior to accepting any bid, I had selected the color of EIFS, the particularstone, and brick I wanted applied and let the biddingcontractors know where they were available.
After accepting Victor's bid, and whilepreparing my home for the application of the EIFS,Victor's menripped off some of my drip flashing, twisted and left some; Victor said he had aroofer friend who owed him a favorand hewould get him to replace it.
While applying the EIFS to the upper story, his crew attached boards to my 4 year old roof in order to stabalize their scaffolding. Victor said they would patch the holes when they were through. They got the almost white EIFS final coat on my dark composition roof and it would not come off.
Near the beginning of the job, the crew installed thewiring that was needed in order to attach the stone to the front entry area.
After the EIFS was complete, but before the stone and brick were applied, Victor abandoned the job. I could notget him to return my calls. The crew never returned after Igave Victor thelast check. He sent his men topick up the scaffolding that was still in place at my entry while I was at work one day and he never returned. I finally had to hire another contractor to finish the stone and brick; that cost memore than it would have if Victor had finished the job. The holes in the roof andthe metal drip edging have not been fixed to this date. I cannot afford to do that on top of paying him.
I still work part-time as a REALTOR and through my contacts will advise them to never use Victor Montes for anything.
