Vivint Apx Alarm Fraudulent business practices, poor customer service Internet, Internet |
2nd of Jan, 2012 by User722044 |
Today January 3, 2012 I phoned Vivint customer service to cancel my contract. I had an original contract with them signed Aug. 5, 2008 for 36 months. This contract to ended Aug. 5, 2011. On January 6, 2011 I moved and took the service with me. They wanted a new contract but I would not contract for more than the 8 months left in the original contract so they made the contract for 8 months. I have this in writing. I spoke to a customer service rep. on Jan. 6, 2011 to ensure I would not have issues cancelling after the Aug. 5, 2011 dealine and she said no problem you can cancel at anytime it is month to month after just let us know when you want to cancel by calling for further instructions. Today when I tried to cancel they state since I did not cancel in writing 30 days prior to the end of the contract that I was automatically re-newed for a new one year contract term that would end Aug. 5, 2012. I said I did not agree to these terms that a rep. of their company did not make this clear when they pushed the security system into my home. They said well we can work this a few ways you can list it on craigs list and get someone to take over your contract, or pay off the $314.93 to satisfy the contract and notify us in writing 30 days in advance or you can keep the service and move it I will give you a discount for 2 months to keep it. The part this company fails to see is I did not contract for another year I did not and do not want their service and this is an underhanded business practice. I had no choice but to pay to get out of a contract that I did not sign up for as they said they would make bad reports to my credit, so the lady in billing said I can give you a 10% discount if you pay in full now. wow 10% to pay for something I did not get and will get nothing for. Then she further stated but it will not end until 30 days after written notice if we do not get the written notice it will contract again. WHat a viscious cycle of consumer fleecing. I paid $283.44 and I am in hopes that my post here will keep someone else from being taking advantage of by a dirty underhanded company. |
